TCAS

Featured Replies

When flying the 737-700 many times I will get a warning from the traffic alert and a red target on my dosplay but no warning from RC and when going to spot view can't see any AC near me. I have tcas set to FSUIPC in options. Should I set it to FS 2004? Thanks for any help.Brad

The 600/700 does not use FSUIPC for TCAS I believe but a dedicated module called TCAS V7 or similar. It does use FSUIPC for wind vectors breaking it down into components. In any case get the latest FSUIPC as indicated below:--------------Get the base FSUIPC version from:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmland then interim update from the modules link on this page:http://forum.simflight.com/forum/142-download-links/FSUIPC now self installs initially based on your registry entry for your FS path. Check that with this free utility:FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB) from http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library---------------Finally be sure Interact with AI is enabled in RC.I assume you are using FS9 and therefore are not using UT2 which spawns traffic at a distance based on user preference.Sometimes RC will not warn of traffic in climbing or descent mode or too far away from the heading of your aircraft. I do get warning from near head on AI (opposing direction) and a closer altitude.I was not aware that the 600/700 had a fully featured TCAS but that it had to be acquired by obtaining the 800/900 which updated the panel instruments for all.

It could be that you are not setting TCAS up properly for the flight. If your "test" goes ok then TCAS will work. It then depends on your transponder settings. Have a look here and watch these short vidoes to understand fully how TCAS must be used. The option to use FSUIPC works perfectly.vololiberista
