January 5, 201115 yr Hi,as you can see I am descending into New York (crossed the pond for the first time). I am heading to ZACHS right now with an expected altitude of 2000 ft. (that is plausible) and at a supposed speed of 229 Knt. which is not plausible at all considering that the it is dropping to 162. I am quite curious to know why the Autopilot is not doing what he is supposed to...Regards

If I didn't select flaps28 I would have triggered the protection system I think.
January 5, 201115 yr Commercial Member It won't go into protection until you hit the protection zones (yellow on the speed tape). If anything, it should have only dropped to 250 (had you not intervened with flaps), and then followed the magenta dot the rest of the way until you started to drop flaps. That magenta dot, by the way, is the autoflight's speed target, so watch it. If the speed is below it, look for a reaction by the ATS to increase throttle, or by the AF to increase the pitch angle. As far as the ATC side goes, CAMRN is an essential crossing fix. 99% of the time, you're going to get "Cross CAMRN at 1-1 thousand, 2-5-0 knots, Kennedy altimeter <IN.HG>." Keeping that speed across the fix is huge in sequencing all of the arrivals into the NY Area. Radar Contact won't get too upset about it, but online, it could cause some issues if it's busy.CAMRN4 arrival: http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/1013/00610CAMRN.PDF Kyle Rodgers
