Autopilot disconnect sounds

Featured Replies

Hi Bob,In the readmes you wrote:Quote=====================Bug Fixes Since V1.30=====================3. No A/P disconnect audio warning when A/P disengaged. The updated panel gauges andsoundbank files address this. However you may experience both the default and the panelgauge sounds when the A/P is disconnected. Reducing the maximum_volume to 0 in the AP_DISENGAGE_SOUND section of the sound.cfg file in the B727-200_TM2 folder *should*,in theory, eliminate the default A/P disconnect sound. That theory did not work on mostof my test machines, however. I found it necessary to go into the FS9 and FSX \Sounddirectories and rename the caapdis.wav file to stop hearing the default AP disconnectsound. YMMV here.UnquoteAfter hours of testing listening to that wretched 'wah wah' sound I think I have cracked the problem :( I finally realised that the 'autopilot disconnect' sound is an FS sound and not a specific TM2 panel sound. This being the case it should not be in the TM.ini file at all - that was causing the two sounds to be heard. The other contributing problem, which you alluded to, is that the sound file 'bs-apilot_off.wav' called up in the TM2\sound\sound.cfg file does not exist, at least not on my systems, but caapdis.wav is in the main FS\sound folder. So there are two actions to fix the problem, assuming that the three short beeps of caapdis.wav is the desired, authentic Tinmouse sound: 1.In TM2\sound\sound.cfg the [AP_DISENGAGE_SOUND] section should read: [AP_DISENGAGE_SOUND] filename=caapdis maximum_volume=9100 (or volume as required) 2. In FSX or FS9\TM.ini under [sound] amend to read: APDiscVolume 0.0 //Autopilot Disconnect Aural Warning Volume Comment - this last entry could perhaps be deleted from TM.ini altogether, but I haven't tried that yet.Hope this helps - it works for me anyway :( best regardsRick CanhamSouth Australia

Actually, the default A/P disc doesn't work right w/r/t the panel--for realism's sake I don't recommend doing it that way. If you use the default A/P toggle (i.e. the "Z" key or a button set to the AP toggle in the FS control settings) it tries to toggle the AP on as well as off, which isn't proper behavior--the button on the yoke is a disconnect switch only, and can't be used to engage the A/P. The "A" solution is to program a button or key via FSUIPC to set offset 6D10, which disconnects the A/P and triggers the panel sound without triggering the default A/P sound. If you trigger the FS control a second time after disconnect to extinguish the A/P Disc light, it will try to toggle the A/P back on, the panel will immediately disconnect it, resulting in triggering the default sound as well as the panel sound in some cases. There should be no sound when the button is pressed with the A/P already off...it should just extinguish the light. Also, there's the issue of having the proper sound itself (the FS beep-beep-beep vs the B737 klaxon)--the default FS A/P disconnect sound isn't a B737 warning (but the one in the default 737 is). What you're doing is substituting the default FS sounds and behavior back in. If it works for you, OK, but it was programmed differently so that the panel would reflect the actual airplane's behavior. Hi Bob,Thanks for setting me straight on that - I had a feeling there was more to it! :( So which is the correct (most realistic) disconnect sound for the 732 - three beeps, four beeps (like caapdis.wav) or the default horn, or the one in the new TM wavebank files? And for the record what/where is the sound that is called up in TM2\sound\sound.cfg named 'bs-apilot_off.wav'?best regardsRick CanhamSouth Australia

The wavebank sound file is a 737 AP disconnect. I'm not sure where the bs-apilot_off sound came from. There's no corresponding sound on any of my systems, and that doesn't appear to do anything here anyway.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO
