HELP with aircraft .CFG

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a new computer (windows 7, 1TB, GTX460 etc). When I change anything in the aircraft .cfg and save, it wont let me.I think it maybe just a "tick" or "untick" in a program, but I dont know where. Can you please tell me where to go (now, now) to fix this problem.Thank you

This is a Windows 7 security issue, Pablo. You can either run everything as Administrator - which you shouldn't - or you can turn UAC (User Access Control) off. Make your own username a member of the Administrators group and assign yourself a strong password. This site will tell you how to do all of the above, and will answer many other questions you are going to have.:-http://www.howtogeek.com/tag/windows-7/http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

This is a VERY simple fix for this. Simply SAVE AS (aircraft.cfg) to a different directory - such as your desktop. Then copy your saved file back to the directory in which it needs to go and replace it (it will let you do this).Windows 7 by default tries to protect .cfg and .ini files from being overwritten as a security precaution - especially if your program is in the Program Files directory. Unfortunately since we are in a unique position to have to manually edit .ini and .cfg files as part of the endless tweaking of FSX, the secuirty safeguards kick in, but its no big deal to work around. Also in Windows 7 (and Vista) ALWAYS ensure that you are running your FS addons (and FSX) "As Administrator" and simply don't install FS Addons or FSX into Program Files or Program Files (x86) directory as a best practice.
