Potential use for GA

Featured Replies

Hi, I would like your opinion, if you think RC4.3 would work for our small regional air operations and would be using it to it's potential. Setup: Win Xp pro, 2.66GH/2 computer. FSX, WideView, Wide traffic (7 systems) , Worldwide WX every 15 mins.We fly less than 10,000 feet and cover WA, OR, ID, MT, Northern UT. Charter and Cargo. Mostly cargo. Fleet: DC-3 Cargo, DC-3 Pass charter, 2 Beech D-18's, C-172 and C-150. Usually fly IFR most of the time because of the weather. Since we don't fly regular airline ,commercial, would we be able to use RC4 to it's potential in our GA operation? I am a little frustrated with FSX ATC.Just would like to know before I make the purchase. Thanks and Kind Regards,Grizz Wallace Grizzco AirKRNT

RC4 does not support uncontrolled VFR. It is for controlled flight but you are allowed to depart from a non-controlled field and activate your clearance of a prefiled plan in the air within I think ten minutes after receiving your clearance. At destination you can cancel your IFR but then you would not receive RC tower services for an uncontrolled field. As I recall RC will set you up to do your own pattern work and approach. As far as altitude I don't recall any problem using the lower altitudes. Just file them appropriately in your plan.Switching between VFR, flight following, and IFR is planned for the next version of RC in the distant future. Now the technical part:RC interfaces to FS via FSUIPC. Networking among clients takes place via the WideFS package normally from a single host where FS runs. You might wish to post your query on the FSUIPC support forum (free registration):http://forum.simflight.com/forum/30-fsuipc-support-pete-dowson-modules/to see if RC/FSUIPC will see AI from your other participants. RC ATC controllers for user aircraft can not be shared among clients. Each client would just see hopefully your other VA participants as AI and RC will if that is the case supply Interactive AI chatter on each client. For purposes of runway assignment the same weather would have to exist on each client unless FSUIPC can interface to weather on your host. RC does use active AI present examined at about forty nm out at your destination for priority in runway assignments. If not runway properties and weather determine choice.Next, RC's scenery database is built from installed scenery. If everyone's scenery is in sync then there would be no problem using the client computer scenery. Alternately you can build by deviating slightly from a network host. The bottom line is RC will treat each client individually but hopefully will get a common weather scenario and see AI from other users. Ask on the FSUIPC forum about it interfacing to the applications you mention regarding AI and weather sharing among multiple host/clients or better described as a peer to peer network.

Oops! I forgot, in my system info, that I also have installed, and am running FSUIPC (registered version) in my system. In the un-controled airports all I depend on is ATC to get me set up for visual approach, ask me to inform when runway is seen and then I take it from there going to local intercom.Does that sound right?Regards'Grizz

Think so. It's been a while.Look at pages 61, 62, and 63 regarding uncontrolled fields from:http://www.jdtllc.com/v4/rcv43.pdf
