March 3, 201115 yr Well, I've got a pretty cool FS9 setup that works great and I am very satisfied with it. That being said, I'd like to start running FSX as well. I don't think my FS9 system will run FSX the way I want it to and I only have a limited amount of space in my townhouse where I can sim. Unfortunately, a new box seems to be the order of the day for FSX and I'm not sure what to do here.I'm going to run FSX using 3 Samsung 2443BW+ so the monitors will all be the same. I'd also like to utilize NVidia's Surround system. Finally, I'd like to start using Windows 7 64 bit. I'd really hate to loose such a great FS9 box due to a lack of desktop space so I started to look into KVM switches. You know what, KVM switches are really expensive. I'm looking at possibly 400.00, (or more), with cables for one that supports the full time/active DDC function that is required to switch between Windows 7 and anything else. The switch also has to be able to run at a resolution of 1920x1200 @ 60hz reliably. I've been reading some pretty awful experiences that people have run into buying the wrong type of switch or cheeping it out.I'm not even sure what the setup would be with NVidia surround and a KVM switch. I've never used NVidia surround before and the FSX, WIndows 7 64bit box will have 2 GTX-580's in it running NVidia Surround while the FS9, Windows XP32 box will have only one GTX-560 in it with no NVidia Surround. So as you might be able to tell already, a situation like this can get quite complicated and overtly expensive. So the question of the day is can Windows 7 64bit run both FS9 and FSX on the same box with 2 GTX-580s and NVida Surround using 3 monitors 1920x1200 @ 60hz? If yes, then is there anything special that I have to do setting it up? Mark
March 3, 201115 yr Yes W7 64 can run FS9 and FSX. I would just reinstall FS9 and forget about the KVM.

That's what I'll do then, run FS9 and FSX on the same Win7-64 box. It seems like the path of least resistance. In either case, (KVM or not), I'm still going to shell out a couple of grand for the FSX/FS9 box combo. I suppose I'll just upgrade my wife's computer with the redundant components so she can surf the web and watch YouTube with speed and agility. I wonder if she'd like to run FS9 :)Mark
