Default Boeing 747, 777 nosewheel problem

Featured Replies

Hi!I noticed some weird behavior with the nosewheels of the default Boeing 747 and 777. The 747 nosewheel strut seems to be leaning inward during a turn (e.g. leaning toward the aircraft during the turn), it really does looks as if the nosewheel will collapse. From the VC the leaning effect is also very pronounced. The whole VC shifts foward during the turn. To clarify, when I turn right, the whole nosewheel strut tilts inward, the left (outboard) nosewheel digs itself into the tarmac and the right (inboard)nosewheel looks to be about 2 feet in the air, vice versa for left turns. Could this be because the default 747 does not model main gear steering? The 777 nosewheel acts even stranger. I turn right, and the nosewheel turns right for a 1/4 second or so, and then it shifts to the left for a moment, then it just points straight forward. Sometimes when I turn, the nosewheel just turns left, right, left right, for about 3 seconds, then points straight forward. Taxiing is literally impossible with this aircraft. When I do use this aircraft (the only reason I fly it is because the gauges do not show in my POSKY 777 VC), I have to slew the aircraft from the gate to the runway. Are there any values in the aircraft cfg (contact points, maybe?) that I can tweak to cure this problem? The POSKY 747v4 and 777, and any other addon Boeing I have seen, do not have this problem.

I wish I could be more helpful but... the default big jets in FS9 are appalling :( The nosewheel is the least of your worries!

Can't help either I'm afraid but very curious. Any chance of a picDave

If all goes well with my studies, I'll probably have time to sneak in some pics next week :smile:And do any of you Avsim elders know why you have to put in your REAL first AND last name to use the library? When I used the old library, I just used a fake name (because I'd rather not give out my real name) and they accepted it. Will using a fake name work in the new library?
