March 8, 201115 yr If anyone tells my wife about this, I will report you to the police for child molestation. So, who is the child? Me, my friends...only me.Just ordered the Ferrari of FSX boxes from Jetline Systems with a separate SSD for the Win-7 load and another 10,000 RPM HDD dedicated to FSX. I tried, on my current hardware, to do a separate load, but always ended up with some issues regarding file locations and the fsx.cfg commands that didn't find what they should have been able to locate. I suspected some Win-7 reload problems, but was never able to sort it out. You may have seen my post here regarding ARRCAB and the lack of catapult launch.Anyway, my biggest beef with addon developers is when they create an EXE that does stuff without your permission. Whenever I get an addon for FSX, I try to load it in a safe place (especially during the "Browse" location option) and then manually move the folders/files as I see fit. Sometimes that isn't possible if the program load EXE is looking around in the Registry.Question: I want to do it right from the start this time with my Win-7 Home Premium load, so where in this OS can I tell it to NOT load something in the Registry until I allow this to happen? If any of you have used Peter Dowson's FSUIPC you may know what I am talking about. I am not the only cowboy in this rodeo-- others have expressed a similar issue.
March 9, 201115 yr Well I have at least two hundred addons for FS9 and FSX, and never had a problem. Some of the developers are overly paranoid about their product being pirated. If you purchase products from the well known and popular developers I would think that you would be aok. Just read up on the developer and make a decision.Let it be, let it be!
March 10, 201115 yr The easiest thing for you to do is a system restore point before you install anything. Then if things go wrong.. restore to that restore point. The next thing is make an image of your entire hard drive. If things go bad.. then restore that image.
