November 18, 200322 yr I wish I hadn't read this thread. I'd got to the point where it's been weeks since I downloaded in aircraft because I thought I had everything I wanted and I don't have time to fly them all anyway. Now I'll have to take the plunge and go for the Antonov (then the Maule, then the Black Hawk, then the Storch....)Thanks for nothing guys ;-)Blair
November 18, 200322 yr I'm a sucker for a smutsiges fenster! Always hated Windex anyway. I'll give it a go. Thanks!
November 18, 200322 yr Hi DaveWhere did you find Mike's Kingair?I used to work with him at the RFDS in Broken Hill, great bloke. Thanks
November 18, 200322 yr If you are into island hopping, why not visit http:// capncolwa21.mysite.freeserve.comThis is all going to be absolutely free and hopefully out by Christmas. Colin
November 18, 200322 yr Tom, you ARE joking about the Blackhawk, aren't you?? Even I can fly it. You don't want to be shown up by a GIRL, do you? :-roll :-erks-Lindy :-rotor :-lol
November 18, 200322 yr Where is all the great payware aircraft we have been promised? With all this great freeware showing up, it is going to be more difficult to get rid of some of my hard earned cash. I am sure I will think of something. though.
November 18, 200322 yr There is also Bill Lyons' stunning Tiger Moth, which is a real joy to fly. while Bill's policy of going freeware with his 2002 stuff is great for those of us who haven't tried them before, I wonder what the people who bought them think about it?
November 18, 200322 yr Hi Richard,Well, I was one that bought Bill Lyons Tiger Moth; and I don't regret it for a moment, the price was not high anyway, I have spent a lot more money on Add-ons that were rubbish to worry my head about paying for the beautiful Tiggy by Bill Lyons.KenSomerset, England
November 18, 200322 yr I have bought all of Bill's stuff and know it is absolute top notch. I have NO problem paying for his software even if I know it might be free later. I am glad to support his endeavors. At least he isn't like some people who gave their stuff out free and then the next thing you know they take it back and start charging for it. That to me is much more frustrating, though admit I have bought some of those programs too, because I felt they were worth it
November 18, 200322 yr When purchasing the lastest Bill and Lynn Custom Classic, I can't believe that I'm purchasing some form of exclusivety.I prefer to see it as a contribution to maintaining the Golden Eagles Website.( Maybe I'm buying the Lyons and friends a virtual round of beer, too...!!)The fact that Bill turned over the last batch of FS2002 models to free access for all is a great display of "flightsim" humanitarianism. The man has real soul, and heaps of generosity.And...his models are indeed, pure works of art. Of all available anywhere, certainly my favorites. Not just a leader in his artform, Bill Lyons is a great example of online character for us all.Bartender, another round...!!
November 18, 200322 yr I heartily agree! Isn't it interesting how well we can get to know someone's character just through their work and a gesture or two now and then? Kinda makes you want to re-read every post you've ever made to a forum, doesn't it? Bill's a great guy and his work is clearly a labor of love. I've never had anything but a good feeling when forking over the meager price he asks for his new work. In fact, at this point whenever I hear he's released a new project my first reaction is to go buy it. The second is to ask what it is! Somehow he manages to build fun into his aircraft... and that's no small feat. It's his combination of simple stick-and-rudder aircraft and a multitude of innovative little additions that make his work such a treat. Keep it up, Bill!
November 18, 200322 yr I've been getting Bill Lyons' stuff since Golden Wings for FS98 (I reviewed that around here somewhere!!!?) and the same as everyone else, I have no problem at all paying for his stuff... Unfortunately, I just wish he would use something other than PayPal, because their conditions for non-US residents aren't (or weren't last time I looked anyway) exactly user friendly!Right now, I'm grabbing his FS9 Cub... Oh for ADSL!!! (Only 4Mb left to go tonight after last night's download session...)Ian P.BTBT Gopher and Random Beercrate Rotator.:-halo
November 18, 200322 yr One very fine new freeware plane with an excellent VC is the Fairchild C-119 "Flying Boxcar" by Daisuke Yamamoto, Heather Sherman, Herb Morse and Brian Gladden (hs-119-32.zip). Some call this plane ugly, but I think it looks great (though not as cute as a Cub with tundra tires ;)).VOlker :]
November 19, 200322 yr Dear Tom,Well, don't feel bad, I have about 100 hours in a Hughes 500 and every time in real life that I flew one, I scarred the crap out of myself, it was fun, but I don't believe I'm the best rotor craft pilot around . . . and in FS, well, we won't even go there, it's worse than in real life...LOLBest,Clay
