November 19, 200322 yr I have noticed in just a few of my downloaded a/c , that they seem to have an overly sensitive elevator trim. I have the trim control mapped to 2 buttons on my joystick -- and elavator trim works just great for most a/c -- but with these few , just 1 click of elevator trim either up or down seems to send the aircraft either zooming skywards or earthwards. It makes it almost impossible to maintain straight and level flight in these a/c when flying by hand. Using the autopilot fixes the problem though.Does anybody have any recommendations re what settings to alter to correct this problem on these a/c?Thanks Barry
November 19, 200322 yr BazzaI notice this on some occasions as well. What I do is go to the flight_tuning section in the aircraft.cfg file and set elevator_trim_effectiveness to a lower figure.e.g. elevator_trim_effectiveness = 0.5Hope this helps.David
November 19, 200322 yr Thanks for that . I have actually done that in the past -- but to me, it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference to the problem. What I can't understand is that, with these particular a/c, the A/P seems to be able to use the trim to keep the a/c straight and level -- but manual use of the trim is too coarse .Anybody else like to discuss this issue? Thanks Barry
November 19, 200322 yr I have this problem with the FS2002 RealAir Simulations SF.260 in FS2004, but I'll patiently wait for the FS2004 update ;)VOlker :]
November 19, 200322 yr I have stated this issue before here, FS9 just does an incredible lousy job in the trim department. Designers have to preform voodoo magic to make it work ok...............................[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 20, 200322 yr Actually the a/c that I have been talking about are FS2002 ones. Please don't tell me that the FS2004 ones are worse Barry
November 20, 200322 yr Barry,There are several things one can do simply in the cfg file.First, check to see if the elevator area (in square feet) is overstated. You could understate it to decrease effectiveness.Second, check the elevator max deflection angle. Should be around 30 degrees limit for up, and 15-20 for down (depending on aircraft of course). You can decrease the angle limits to reduce effectiveness.Third, as mentioned, decrease the elevator effectiveness scalar. This will help even more if one or both of the above items are changed.Lastly, check to ensure you do not have your REPEAT slider full for the assignment of your elevator trim adjustment.I usually try to set up my air files so that flying manually is not only possible, but desireable.Milton
November 20, 200322 yr >>I usually try to set up my air files so that flying manually>is not only possible, but desireable.>>MiltonI'll say you do...Your AeroCommanders nearly fly themselves. They are the best!!!I had the trim problem with my Posky crj/Marco Spada panel. One click of the trim and up like a rocket and nose dive the other way. It was a combination of problems:1) Needed a registered version of FSUIPC to "fix control acceleration" Thanks Marco for the info and Peter for FSUIPCAfter that it was better but still too much.2) Changed elevator_trim_effectiveness = 1.0 to .04. Thanks DavidNow everything is peachy. Very smooth.Adam
