November 19, 200322 yr How come AI parks at the same spot when there is an available spot right next to it? It's very frustrating seeing your AI park in the same spot as one which is already there even if there is a spot open right next to it...what can be done to fix this issue? I downloaded a new afcad for klax and there should be enough gates for all the aircraft, but it doesn't seem to matter for the ai.
November 19, 200322 yr Are you sure the aircraft already parked in that spot is AI?...It could be a static aircraft that came with a particular scenery and if it's static, then this could be the cause of an AI aircraft parking over top of the static plane. I've seen this happen many many times and this is why I eliminate all static aircraft from every scenery I download. If this is not the case, then I can't help you as I've never experienced an AI plane parking over top of another AI at the same gate.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
November 19, 200322 yr It's not static...It's the default KLAX and I haven't installed anything extra to KLAX except the afcad.
November 19, 200322 yr I get a similar problem but it's with my aircraft. I'll select an airport and starting gate and find myself under an AI 747 at that gate. Do you need to go to the airport first and check for an empty gate? Dosn't seem right...Have a current afcad loaded for it. Should double check for static aircraft though.
November 20, 200322 yr Okay I think I know what is going on here. It seems that if the hold short nodes at the exit points of the runway where the planes land is missing the plane that just landed becomes a "rogue" planes and thinks that all parking spots is empty. The reason I got these planes was because I had removed all of those nodes, because I wanted a smoother flow of the traffic and a decrease in the go-arounds.If you delete the hold short node plus the node connecting the taxiway and runway the plane will taxi to the gate without waiting for clearance from the tower which can be very busy with all the incoming traffic. I guess it's either that and planes parking in the same spot or go-arounds an mass. :(
November 20, 200322 yr Interesting phenomenon. I was going to suggest a "hidden" gate lying directly under another one. This would actually be a problem with the AFCAD file. Chances are, it would not have a link to a taxiway and fault-finder in AFCAD would catch it. I've found a couple of these, and I've caught some in AFCAD's I've done. For me, it usually happens when I'm using the "o" key to set my parking spots from inside FS.
November 20, 200322 yr Yeah, it's definitely the HS nodes, had the same problem awhile back. Regards,Brian Doney
November 21, 200322 yr Ya, I think it's hold short nodes also. Also, it doesn't just affect parking. I've also seen overlapping aircraft waiting in line for departure, which is probably related to HS nodes also. There are probably a few AFCADs out there that have this problem and will need to be fixed. Removing the HS nodes was a way to allow traffic to cross active runways. So now, not sure what we can do about that.Matt
November 21, 200322 yr Easy thing in the world to check is just to check the "Fault Finder" function in AFCAD. Why alot of AFCAD designers dont test it and try it out before releasing is beyond me ;)
November 21, 200322 yr The fault finder will not give you an error because of missing hold short nodes! ;)
November 22, 200322 yr Author Hi Matt,Yes, I just saw this too at SFO (1L). Missing hold short node in the default airport. What's more, they never take off. Added the node - all is well.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
