March 28, 201115 yr Good afternoon all,I have been having a slight problem with the MD-11 for FSX. I purchased the product over the weekend and was wondering why the engine sounds dont seem to work? Every other addon that I have works perfectly fine. For example: I loaded the aircraft at RJBB with engines running, ready to go. I can hear the internal sounds, packs etc, but cannot hear any of the engine sounds. (even at full throttle).- No engine sounds in VC- Only *some* engine sounds in external- I get full sounds in Wing View.- PMDG sound settings set to Normal- FSX sound settings set to 100%Seems that the position of the camera or (Pilot's view) determines when the sounds appear. It's difficult to explain, but at certain view angles the engine sounds seem to appear. Like the Wing view.Is this the way the MD-11 is in real life? Any suggestions would be appreaciated. I have submitted a support ticket, I didn't really get a responce i was looking for except "It's very hard to say for sure". :( thanks,Tinosky, :)
March 28, 201115 yr The PMDG MD-11 is essentially a flawless product as far as bugs or glitches. Mine functions perfectly and any issues are usually the result of the user's system/configuration/software. I would suggest a reinstall with administrator privileges if you haven't already done so. There are definitely engine sounds in the cockpit, and all sounds/levels are accurate in comparison to the real aircraft. Shane Gavin

I will try unstalling everything again and only install the MD-11 to see if that clears up any issues.thanks again,Tinosky
March 29, 201115 yr Hey Everyone,Still no go with the sound issues. Seems that the pilots view (head movement) effects the direction of sound. Looking forward from the captians seat, I cant hear any engine sounds. Yet, when I look behind towards the cockpit door, I hear them no problem. Has anyone experienced this weird issue? I even tried un-installing everything except the MD-11 itself. I hope I can find a solution to this.Ryan mentioned It may have to do with my sound blaster card. i unstalled the drivers and the creative software. Still no luck. It's running off of motherboard now. Basically no sound card is currently being used.Any help will be appreaciated. thank you,Tinosky~
March 29, 201115 yr Commercial Member Hi,did you double-check your speaker settings? Make sure that both the speaker settings in Windows system preferences AND the same settings in the sound card drivers are matching with the actual speaker configuration connected to your PC. Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard

Regards,MarkusGood evening,I figured out the problem! It was my speaker settings as you mentioned. It was set to 7.1 surround and not *Stereo* quality. Which in turn wasn't giving me the specific engine sounds.Appreaciate your help on this! On another note, My account on avsim are a little messed up. Seems that I have 2 accounts on here. I will get my other one deleted. Thanks again for the help :)Tinosky~ Sante Sottile
