April 2, 201115 yr hello all, when taxiing my plane goes way too fast even my throttle is very low, can this be fixed if so can i get some help? appreciate any kind of help to fix this.paul
April 2, 201115 yr What kind of plane? Some aircraft tend to run away at idle unless you're on the brakes.
April 2, 201115 yr Some aircraft do have too much idle power especially turboprops. For a turboprop make sure your idle condition lever is at ground idle at not flight idle. Move it into flight idle as you enter the runway for take-off (for an immediate take-off) or after you line up for pausing before take-off. Return it to ground idle after you touch down and start slowing knowing you are not immediately going to take-off again as in a touch and go.The reason for a flight idle position of a faster idle is to reduce the turbine spool up time in increasing power. For a jet taxiing too fast some airlines use a single engine taxi for a two engine aircraft or for a four engine might use two out of four. This may apply to some turboprops as well. For a jet taxiing too fast sometimes the reversers are extended as idle reverse to slow the aircraft to save brakes. That is not done with turboprop aircraft do to the complex prop angle mechanism usage when the prop changes to reverse pitch. When using a complex multi-engine aircraft with less than the full complement of engines for taxi be sure the engines remainingg are chosen to provide the full facilities for hydraulic and pneumatic pressure as well as electric power.
