Luckily I have not had much problems with hardrives but if they go I tottaly destroy the hardrive and buy another one. With the costs being so low its great insurance. However if one of my SSD go I then that meybe another story so it will be intereting to hear about other peoples experiences about RMA hardrives and any problems relating to identity theft etc as thats the reason for your question.
April 5, 201115 yr Yes, I recently RMA'd my HDD, still wonder if they secure them by destruction. Probably a good question for WD. Besides if it is not defective they wouldn"t warrent it, if it is defective nobody is going to go through the trouble of reading it.
