April 6, 201115 yr Dear all,Yesterday I decided to reinstall my whole setup since I experience issues installing Flash and Quicktime on my system.Where I come from :i7 860 @ stock 2.8GhzGTX285 Video card2*2 GB DDR3 MemAsus P7P55D PRO1 velociraptor WD 300GB with Windows 71 Intel SSD X-25M 160GB with FSX aloneUsing FPS limiter, ******* CFG tweak and Nvidia Inspector.I had very good performance and a smooth visual experience in FSX even at ORBX airports. All sliders maxed out except the texture resolution at 7cm and Autogen on Sparse. Now, I have gone through a few changes :- Reinstalled both Windows 7 and FSX on the SSD (I though having the OS on the SSD would help)- updated my BIOS (which version dated from 2009). That gives me now a better menu with auto OC options (which I still don't use yet)I have REX and GEX installed. After a few tests, I am rather disappointed.... I use to maintain my locked 30fps looking at a REX cloudy sky.... Now I get stutters and I am more between 18-25 fps not too stable.... What could have have happened ????An other question :I am planning a new rig with an Asus ENGTX 580, i7 2600K and a second SSD for FSX alone (like before) + a Noctua double Cooling Fan. Since I already have an Intel X25-M 160GB, are newer version and other brands SSD can be mixed with that one on the same system. I guess I should look at the new Intel so that I can use the same Toolbox software ?Thanks for your help,Greg too much, too soon....
April 7, 201115 yr You can use different brands of SSD's in the same system.Regarding your other question, the first thing I suggest you try is to optimize Win7 and FSX for performance. Start with NickN's post on 4/11/10.http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic34141_post198187.html#198187
