MD11

Featured Replies

Hello All, This might seem to be a triviality but it is annoying. In the PMDG keyboard commands for MD11 the command for Stab Trim setting is uncommanded and I have inserted Control+C duplicated into FSUIPC and button 2 of the Yoke. On setting up a flight this command works but on subsequent flight settings it does not and in looking into the PMDG keyboard commands the Stab Trim box is empty thereby the control setting is not being constantly captured (for want of another expression), does anyone have a solution to this problem. Many thanks in advance. richard welsh.

Thought so.You need to grant yourself admin rights to the Flight Sim X folder located on your hard drive. To do this, navigate to the Microsoft Games folder on your drive and:Right click on the Flight Simulator X folder:Select PropertiesSelect the Security tab at the topClick on the Users account in the Group boxIn the Permissions box, check the box Full ControlClick OKThe grants you (a User - Tron reference? :( ) and the programs you use in that folder admin rights to the folder. Essentially, what is happening is the computer is writing the changes (your key assignments) to a 'ghost' (Compatibility Files) folder, which the PMDG Options panel ignores the next time you run it. Using admin rights writes those changes to the actual file, not a file in a 'ghost' folder. As a quick note, if you have problems with any other program (especially when it comes to settings not saving, etc), you should grant admin rights to the program's location first before trying other things. UAC has its place in Windows, but it ends up being a bear if you don't know how to keep it in check.
Sorry for the self-quote, but you have no idea how many times I use this quote to solve problems.

Hello Kyle, Many thanks for your reply. I did exactly as you suggested but the keyboard command Control+C is not being checked for Stab Trim. I tried it on different aircraft liveries within MD11. The permission box data is as follows: Full Control - checked. Read and execute - unchecked. List folder controls - unchecked. Read - unchecked. Write - checked. richard welsh

Are any other key combinations working for any other settings? Are you granting the User (or your user name) full control, or did you accidentally leave the setting on Admin when you were checking?(Also, please place your name at the bottom of the post, per forum rules)

Hi Kyle, thanks again for your help, I reverted your admin rights suggestion and searched the FSX keyboard commands and found the ADF commmand, Ctrl+Shift+A, deleted it and inserted for Stab Trim and all is well. As an aside, if you look at my previous post you referred to, you will see my signature, easily missed. richard welsh.
