Missing airports

Featured Replies

Hello flightsimmers, right now I've a big problem with my FS9.I installed plenty addon sceneries (payware and freeware). So I did it with the scenery area of Russia. After installing I tried to create a new flight (to find out whether i installed it correctly but it was not possible to do so because there is no more airport in the Russia area left !!! And also my newly installed additional airport sceneries are not visible!!! Searching for the country "Russia" there are only 2 airports shown!!! The airports which are shown under the "Russia" country area are from another country (SPQU - Arequipa, Peru. And scrolling down I get all the other airports of Peru but no one of Russia). One other thing is also a miracle: The name of Russia is suddenly shown in capitol letters (RUSSIA) but I didn't changed anything in writing the name.So what to do? Where are my airports, the default and also the addon airports? Is it possible to repair this without deleting everything and reinstall once again. The scenery.cfg file is ok. All additional airports which I've had installed are there and correctly added. Other sceneries are shown without any problems. Hope everybody is understanding what I mean because I'm not a native English speaking man.Greetings from GermanyHermann

Did you change anything under base scenery files in FS9/scenery/.....while installing those Russian sceneries? It seems like something change and lost under base FS9 bgl region files. Some of Russian sceneries are really great, amazing works but unfortunatelly, there isn't properly instructions or informations in English. Automatic installer can be change somethings but we don't know which are them!Normally, the reason of loosing airports on the airports list, changed BGL files on base FS9 scenery folder (FS9/scenery/....)solution;1-backup all FS9 in safety place2-ask the scenery creator about this problem.3-look for uninstall for last russian airports. generally automatic installer gets backup the changed files and replace get back when you try uninstall (we hope ofcourse)4-if you don't want to do, try to find what has been changed on FS scenery structure. It is not easy. Check BGL files under fs9/scenery on each folder and recognise change dates. Sometimes it does work.5-let we wait better idea from other users.I hope someones can help you from Russia better than me.

Hello Hakan, thanks a lot for your fast reply. It seems so I've to delete the whole FS9 and after cleaning the harddisk and the registry I've to reinstall all.I tried all the things of your proposals but nothing helped me to solve the problem. I had a copy of the FS9 on a different harddisk and I changed the complete FS9 scenery folder but nothing happend. So I think I'll have to wait some more time whether there will someone be with some other ideas.Once again, thanks a lot.GreetingsHermann

Your welcome Hermann,I'll ask my friends also, maybe someone has konwledge about this problem. My solution point was; I installed an Adriatic mesh scenery but when I tried to fly from LDDU I saw the most Italy airports were gone!only terrain was there. MEsh scenery was include some new region BGL in base FS9 scenery. After a short search I found fixed BGL files which was released by creator, there was a code mistake on BGL files. When replaced new ones, airports get back.Thats why I suspicious of any possibility of changes in FS9/Scenery BGL files. The root region BGL files very sensitive, any minor mistake can be cause like of your issues.Don't worry, we will find a solution.take care

HErmann,We found a topic in our local forum which was discussed last year. It is related by missing afcad files or similiar problems flatten codes etc. It caused by "all kazakhistan afcad files" pack.could you check theese BGL files, is there any changes?fs9/Scenery/Asia/SceneryAP961130.BGL AP961150.BGL AP961160.BGL AP963140.BGL AP964130.BGL AP965140.BGL AP966120.BGL AP966130.BGL AP966150.BGL AP966160.BGL AP966170.BGL AP967140. BGL AP967160.BGL AP968150.BGL AP968160.BGL AP969140.BGL If you recognized any changes (look size or modified date), replace default BGL file from FS9 CD. ( I don't know which one, you may look inside CAB files)try once maybe it does work.

The files mentioned above are on the FS9 Disk 4, Scenery folder, in the ASIA.cab file. You can use Winzip or some other compress/decompress folders to extract individual files or folders from .cab files. I am attaching a Winzip screenshot showing the files in that cab file. Note that they are already set to extract into a scenery folder and you can browse the extract path to that FS ASIA folder. Like in Explorer you can use ctrl-left click to select the individual files to extract. If you extract into the Asia folder selecting the keeo folder names will put them back into the scenery folder under ASIA. It may be easier just to replace the all of the files in that cab. See the Winzip options in the bottom of that window after you click the extract icon. The Asia folder of interest is in your FS9 folder under scenery. In that folder is the scenery folder for the AP files destination.

Hermann,Our Turkish fellows asking you, are there Irkutsk ve Vladivostok sceneries that you have installed? As said they, thats two sceneries could be cause of some airports loosing.

Hello guys, thanks a lot for your replies which helped me very much to solve my problem. The FS9 is running yet again. It was the AP995080.BGL file which was changed from original version: AP995080.bgl , 30.05.2003, time 23:27, size 8 kBchanged version: AP995080.bgl , 04.05.2010, time 17:35, size 1 kBIt is in the FS9/scenery, ASIA/scenery folder and the only one which is changed. I don't know to which addon this file is belonging to. It took me for more then 7 hours in front of the PC to find out but it was worth to do so in this way. There would have been work for then 4 weeks to reinstall the FS9 and for more then 481 addon airports.I left it in the original version and everything is fine. As usual I check all my installations and no one of the addons has any problems. Even the addons of Irkutsk and Vladivostok are running fine.So thanks a lot again.Greetings to Istanbaul and Minneapolis!!!Hermann

Your welcome Hermann,Nice to hear about solved the problem. Have a nice flights. (I also copied your recognised BGL file into our forum for possible future problems)take care
