November 27, 200322 yr I'm in the mood of flying a helicopter in FS2004 and I'm getting sick of the Bell JetRanger and the Robinson R22.What's the best, most fun, most interesting freeware helicopter for FS2004?Regards
November 27, 200322 yr http://www.hovercontrol.com/You will find all the best helis that are available, there in the d/l section (top picks). The new Blackhawks are nice to fly, look good and handle pretty well. Al Devins MD500E and 520 NOTAR are fun to fly as well.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com Best, Michael KDFW
November 27, 200322 yr Michael has given you a great site there but for my money the best helis for FS2004 to date are Cyril Pioffet's A _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
November 27, 200322 yr Hi Dark Moment,Could you provide the links to where I can download these helicopters?Regards
November 27, 200322 yr ....at the link I provided! :-)Hovercontrol is all about virtual helicopter simulation, thus all the helis that are available are there for the most part.I agree, the gazelle is really sweet! The Lama has a fantastic VC, but I don't like the way the rotor animation was done, just me though.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com Best, Michael KDFW
November 27, 200322 yr Commercial Member I am also interested in a good heli, but a complete helicopter add-on.. haven't heard of anything commercial or freeware being developed, anyone know of anything in the pipe? I'm talking with systems simulation, full cockpit... Similar to level of complexity as PMDG/PIC aircraft. November 27, 200322 yr Damian, that is what I want as well. I am a big fan of the Eaglesoft products and have brought this up to Bob Hayes at several points. He is an actual Police heli pilot and is interested, but that is about as far as it goes at the moment. If more were to ask about this on their forum, it might help in adding this to their design list.I think the biggest obstacle in this kind of design is the market, with the time involved to bring out a product of this quality, the market has to be there and not many can even fly a virtual helicopter, which limits who would get it.I will say this though, there are some amazing designs coming out for FS9 very shortly, so hopefully this will be a bug in someones ear. Keep an eye out for Al Devins new Agusta A109 project due out shortly, looks amazing!BTW, good luck with your AS2 project, looks very promising and I am very anxious to try it out! November 27, 200322 yr A couple of really good ones are the Blackhawk and also the Erickson Skycrane. Both come with lots of options and you can install the helicopter autopilot in them to ease the pilot workload. You can get them at Hovercontrol- both are freeware. Also both are fps friendly.I have flown both of these online several times with no problems.Dave
November 27, 200322 yr One of the best freeware helo's I know of is the "Huey" by Jordan Moore. His latest comes complete with an excellent sound package, great visual and flight model, and a dynamic VC. Second to that would be Jordan's Skycrane as complete as the Huey. These are both as good as it gets and both are available at the link provided above: HoverControl. Get 'em, you'll enjoy 'em.Harry
November 27, 200322 yr I really like the Hughes 500 by Bjoern Buechner I believe. Looks great, flyes well - very sweet.I also liked the Bell 427 by Paul Bradshaw, although the flight dynamics are a bit wobbly. Another cool one is the 222 by Alan Devins.-Daniel
November 28, 200322 yr Two words: Erickson Aircrane. I used this in FS2002 and it's top knotch. I hear it's been updated for COF. Get it, you won't regret it.Incidentally, on Frontiers of Construction they did a story on the AirCrane. It was very entertaining. I've been working on other things so I haven't had a chance to download it. It is really something with fire fighting unit and winches for picking up objects.Adam
