PMDG 747-8X Repainting

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,I have been doing some repainting for a while now and really want to repaint the 747-8i in our VA's colours, however, after getting the actual map done, how do I get it on the airplane? I have completed a map of the repaint, but it looks like an old wrapped newspaper around my fuselage LOL!!! Any pointers to a good tutorial or a few helpful hints would be great!Thank you very much in advance.Werner Gillespie

Hi Werner, you are in luck, Dan Prunier (aka Turbine777) developed a fantastic tutorial using the PMDG 747. It is a good read and explains exactly how to do everything step by step. Once you get the full AC painted you have to "slice" it up using the fuse section copy and paste method.I believe there is readme explaining how to use the paintkit.

Hello Werner,Dan's tutorial is a good one and it really lays out all the key points. For the repainting of the 747-8i/8F, I would suggest you download the specific PMDG paint kit which can be found under Dowloads/Paintkits. It's a slightly different paint kit compared to the others but I found it much easier to work with. Essentially you need to apply your VA paint layers first to the left and right template files and then map these into the mapping file, Pax_Map_748i.psd, placing the fuselage templates in the correct areas of the map which are clearly labelled. There's instructions included in the paint kit, so just follow those. If you get stuck, post a message here at the forum and I'm sure we'll be able to help you out.Good luck with the painting! :( CheersMark
