LOG BOOK automatic entries

Featured Replies

I can't figure out how to have log book entries automatic, even after searching the forums.. I thought I made all the settings correctly but.. no luck. I have a logbook name. Bill" - that's me...Whenever I exit FS I get a notice- "You have chosen to log flight time but the logbook file -'plines1968' does not exist. You will not be able to log flight time until you re-create the flight time logging file or select a new flight time logging file in the log book dialog."Someone suggested adding the log book name "Bill" somewhere in the FS .cfg file, which I did..?Any help greatly appreciated.Bill

Just as an experiment go into your flight simulator files folder and rename "Bill.LOG' to "plines1968.LOG" and see if it will log time normally. If so rename it back to Bill.LOG, then open the FS9.cfg and change "LOG_FILE=plines1968" to "LOG_FILE=Bill". If that doesn't work there's something else wrong, change "LOG_TIME=1" to "LOG_TIME=0" and "LOG_FILE=plines1968" to just "LOG_FILE=" in the FS9.cfg, start the sim and assign yourself a new logbook in the Options menu.Jim

Well Jim, it has been a while..busy. but..whatever I did seems to have worked. The aircraft and time of flight now appears in the Log book automatically. BUT-- I don't seem to be able to see the logbook to enter comment--from/to etc.. unless I EXIT FS9. Then the log book appears. Is there a way to enter comments in the book w/o exiting FS?Thanks again,BIll

Unless maybe you can do it through the Options > Logbook menu somehow. I tend to stay outta there though because we've found in the past that editing logbook entries via the menu somehow causes the same type of logbook corruption you just experienced. It might be worth a try though now that you know how to fix it if it messes things up again.Jim
