Random weather generator

Featured Replies

Hi.My FS9 PC is not on-line so I make my own weather. However, I feel I'm cheating by setting weather manually. In addition, setting different weather for different stations is tedious and time consuming.Frustration and impatience leave me with the same weather throughout a flight, which leads to further frustration...I'm currently using Pablo Diaz' High Def. Environment v. 2.0 for the cloud textures and sky colour and a combination of FS9, Radar Contact and Air Hauler. What is available, compatible, and easy to use that can give convincing, changing and possibly random weather for a standalone PC?Thanks in advance.D

You can use FSMetar on an offline machine but you'll still need to download metars. You can do this on a connected machine and transport the metars via thumb drive or whatever. Then start the sim, start FSMetar, and then load one of your saved metars. FSMetar is great if you fly small GA at bug-smasher altitudes, cloud depictions are very voluminous and dramatic, especially with the HDE cloud package you mentioned. You'll love it if you're into screen shots. If you fly high altitude routes in jets you'll find FSMetar's winds aloft depictions (or lack thereof) highly unrealistic.Go here for archived metars, searchable by date, and also a link to the FSMetar program:http://www.cat-tamer.com/flightsim/metar/Jim
