747X landing lights etc dim

Featured Replies

I have REX and the Realair Duke. I used the lighting option for it in REX. I am now flying my 747X and changed the lighting option to Zeon Intense, nav lights, beacon, stobe, but the lighting is very low. If I buy the shock wave lighting will it work with REX and give me the bright lighting? When I searched the topic I got that REX was a problem with the 747X and not the other aircraft. The 747X is the only aircraft that I have lighting problems and I assume that it is because of REX. I want to be certain before I buy shockwave that it will fix the problem with my 747X. This is the 747X aircraft cfg light section.[LIGHTS]light.0 = 3, -225.90, 0.30, 4.72, fx_navwhih, //Position Aftlight.1 = 3, -225.90, -0.30, 4.72, fx_navwhih, //Position Aftlight.2 = 2, -225.52, 0.00, 3.94, fx_strobeh, //Strobe Aftlight.3 = 1, -33.596, 0.00, 14.868, fx_pmdg744_beacon, //Beacon Toplight.4 = 1, -86.149, 0.00, -11.735, fx_pmdg744_beacon, //Beacon Bottomlight.5 = 8, -77.000, 26.00, -4.000, fx_pmdgwinglight, //Wing Rightlight.6 = 8, -77.000, -26.00, -4.000, fx_pmdgwinglight, //Wing LeftThanks,Lynn Fisher

AFAIK, REX replaces the default effects for strobes, nav, landing lights, etc.PMDG and other developers include their own effect files, referenced in the aircraft code as fx_pmdg744_xxx.All shockwave 3D lights does is add a new set of effects with instructions on how to replace/add lights in any aircraft.cfg file.I've replaced the strobes on my own PMDG 744X with shockwave strobes by just duplicating the file and renaming it after the PMDG fx file. This method lets the strobes follow the wing flex, same as the nav lights.I found that shockwave's beacon effects were bleeding into the VC unless you pushed them further back down the fuselage.Shockwave won't fix the intensity of your landing lights either. The effects are only a 3D cone of light. They're not emissive from what I've seen. The only file that effects landing lights is halo.bmp.

How do I get my lights back? I found 4 Halo.bmp files in FSX. So how do I get my original FSX fx_navwhih, fx_strobeh, Halo.bmp back? If I understand this correctly the fx_pmdg744_beacon, fx_pmdgwinglight is not effected. When I somehow get my original files back I need to rename them fx_pmdg744navwhih, fx_pmdg744strobeh and put that into the [Light] section of aircraft.cfg. How do I protect the halo.bmp from being overwritten by REX?Name Date Modified Type Sizeflytampa_halo1.bmp 5/20/2008 Windows BMP Inage 11KBhalo.bmp 8/17/2007 Windows BMP Inage 342KBHALO.bmp 5/26/2007 Windows BMP Inage 342KBhalo.bmp 5/23/2007 Windows BMP Inage 66KB ThanksLynn

A search at REX gave me the answer how to get back the original light files. I would still like to be able to increase the brightness of the external lights. Thanks for your help APongrLynn
