It would seem that if you are left clicking on the screen and it all goes alright, then something is 'alt-tabbing' you out of the application you are using and you are clicking back into it and rectifying the issue. So, is there anything coming up in the system tray that might be doing that, such as a downloader, maintenance scheduler on a timer or something along those lines? If it isn't something like that, you could perhaps check the task manager, make a note of what is running when you fire up FS (both applications and services), then note if anything 'new' is running when your issue occurs, which may then point you to what is happening, such as something starting up on boot on a timer that your system is bringing to the fore, and that you might need to knock off.Failing that, it might be something more malicious such as a trojan, keylogger or some malware or whatever, in which case a virus check would be worth doing. There is a slim chance it could be a peripheral device doing it too, i.e. a spurious signal is 'alt tabbing' you out of the application. Sometimes joysticks can do that, as can some of the more fancy mice with a lot of buttons if they go on the blink, so another thing to try would be seeing if any of your hardware (and that includes the keyboard) are the cause. That sometimes happens with the alt key on ,my old IBM keyboard, it occasionally jams down and if I don't notice, I get all kinds of weird things going on until I give that a tap to unjam it.Al

Thanks Alan for your help mate, I eventually got rid of it with 'system restore'. Thanks to XPpro :(
