Microsoft Flight Simulator Stopped Working...

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow simmers!Did anybody noticed 'Microsoft Flight Simulator Stopped Working' dialog box? One can click on 'close the application' and force FSX to quit ungracefully or provide a shortcut to map view (I personally use GF PT-8 assigment) just once, close the dialog box through 'X' in upper right corner and FSX displays map. After 'cancel' or Esc key FSX runs again!Usually my FSX is stable, I have noticed this twice since last 150+ logged hours in heavy irons. I do not always sitting in front of the controllers during 4+ hrs flights, but I assume it only happens in full screen. It does not happen on first and last phases of flight.

This happens to me from time to time with all manner of drivers, cards etc can't seem to nail the cause. My problem is more of a black screen when using menus, that can't be recovered from and forces you to quit the game via the Stopped Working dialogue.I think it's a memory leak because it frustratingly happens always at the end of a flight when I pull the map up to confirm the ILS frequency. FSX runs beautifully for me so I have just learnt not to mess with menus or tab out to windows during a flight. I have another laptop for that stuff.Max.

Have you tried the uiautomationcore.dll fix for your black screens? See Issue #1 in this threadhttp://forum.avsim.net/topic/280688-graphics-corruption-in-fsx-update-possible-solution-found/
