GPU's for Multi Monitor

Featured Replies

I'm looking at upgrading my GPU for better performance while using multimonitors. I'm currently running a Radeon HD 5770 with 3 displays at 1920x1080, and I run GEX, REX 2OD, UTX, ORBX, TrafficX, and a host of addon aircraft. I have my settings tuned according to Nick's tweaks. I generally get good performance, but suffer extreme performance drops when I get to about 2 mile final at hub airports like KDFW, or when I fly near clouds (i.e. I drop from my pinned 25fps to single digits). I have noticed that when I run a single monitor I see a marginal drop in performance to high teens.I know that I'm not CPU limited, I'm running an i7 2600k (still at stock because it's relatively new, and I want to run it for a few weeks before I OC it).My question is, what is the best way for me to go to improve my current performance? Eyefinity has worked really well, and if upgrading to a Radeon HD6970 is going to provide me with the brute force I need for a smooth 20-30fps, then that's preferable. However, if it's unlikely that I will get playable frame rates, then which NVIDIA cards would you recommend SLI'ing for surround? I want to get excellent performance, and I'm willing to spend what I need to to get there, but I don't want to spend unnecessarily.Any advice or recommendations are much appreciated.

Good question.I too am looking to upgrade before the end of the financial year. However I could probably 'just' afford the i7 2600k, but not a GTX580 (over $500 smakerroo's is just a tad too much right now). All I can hope is that 580's drop in price in the next 4-8 weeks (doubt it).So what other choices are there in graphics card world? Whats the best bang for buck? - buy a cheapie and wait for the prices to drop next year? For me I Guess any new card is going to blitz my old 6600gtx! - which runs at ave frame rates of betwee 3 -12fps - and yes I fly with that regularly.:Worried: Any suggestions by all and sundry most welcome :Big Grin: If anyone can suggest a good cheap controller that works I'd appreciate it too.David
