  1. Hi All, Been using the PMDG a/c on and off for several yrs. Had the B737NGX installed on my WIndows 7 PC for about 4-5 yrs now. Recently upgraded to Windows10 - doesn't work perfectly but good enough. When I started up my FSX for the first time in ages after the upgrade and tried running the PMDG 737NGX (had all the patches up to about a year ago) it keeps asking for my activation code (which I put in and it was happy with), after which I could never get the engines started (not sure if it was me, but I followed the proceedures I knew worked in the past - nothing just keeps spooling up but adding in the fuel flow it refused to spool up). But if I close down FSX and restart it after adding in my activation code (which it accepts) it then asks for it again - every time. Any ideas? Thanks, David
  2. Well, Being an Aussie and FS(x) flier for past 20 odd yrs this would be a very nice addition to the hangar. Mind you I'm also waiting on Orbx to release scenery for Perth (but would suspect pigs might fly before that happens and PMDG would release a Wedgie by then!) Cheers, David
  3. Someone in an earlier post said Australia was covered. Sorry but; Australia is NOT fully covered. Considering this mob started out with Australia, to leave out one of Australia's major capital cities like PERTH is unforgivable in my book. We've been waiting YEARS for ORBX to do Perth. They keep telling us it's going to be a long time coming but give NO Bl**dy reason for it. Come on ORBX, you're taking the micky out of us Sandgropers mate! Extract the digits and get on with it will ya! Thanks Cheers, David
  4. its been seconded. Now passed!C17 it is Cannot think of an aircraft that combines all of the above requests (long range, complex systems, multi-engined et. al.) and then some... plus the ability to taxi backwards under its own steam! I mean how cool is that thing? The P8 Anti-sub hunter is my next wish list plane - I guess its coming sooner though through the -800.Cheers,David
  5. Oh well,Just have to wait and see if the next version of M$'s simulator (Flight) offers anything better? (Pigs do fly i believe). I too forked out for the EFB in the hope it could teach me more about navigation and assist with navigating airports and surrounds easier. I am struggling with opening the EFB on a separate monitor with FSX and the NGX running side-by-side... cant run FSX full screen it seems. All very frustrating. The PMDG product is unquestionably a work of art. The EFB while not perfect is a very handy utility to have running. I really hope 'someone' from either Aivlasot or PMDG can assist with some form of fix. It would be nice. Cheers,David.
  6. Ryan and Corey,Thanks heaps for your responses. Didnt see them till today, just the answers I've been seeking these past months. For me your posts represent the definitive answer on what works best with FSX.The only difference for me is that I'll be buying the Corsair Graphite Case - just cos it looks good. Thanks heaps, David
  7. Thanks Rob,I remember asking if the P8 was going to be done a few months ago, only to have others on the forum give it the thumbs down for a chance it'll happen! So, there you go. Brilliant - I'll buy it.Cheers, David
  8. Hi Matt,Thats excellent news.I've got the new Samsung Galaxy S2 which is a whopper of a phone and currently outselling iphones! So if you can port the application over to Android the market will lurrrve you! :im Not Worthy:Certainly liked the look of the version for Windows 7 phones. Good that its being kept fairly simple - no need to overload the phones. Qualtiy graphics over content would win most people over in my view. Cheers, David
  9. Robert,I'd be interested to know what the minimum spec PC you and Yr development team have been running, yet still have the NGX with a few add-ons like ORBX/REX running and have reasonable frame rates.its just that I've been given an older 1156 motherboard to build a PC with and am wondering if a 3Ghz i7 would be good enough? Or does one really need to overclock and get closer to 4ghz for decent frame rates with sliders more to the right?Just curious is all. Thanks,Cheers,David
  10. No, THANK YOU Sir, Releasing the P8 and Wedgtail variants! Fan-bloody-tastic Mate!I'm in... as soon as my PC gets upgraded it'll be paid for and downloaded, you can bet-yr-bottom dollar on that!Great job - great pricing - great service, professionalism and excellent coding guys. You've all moved the bar far, far higher for quality precision flight sim products for the entire flight sim community.Cheers,David
  11. +1 on this.Or the standard milk run YMML - YSSY. (1 Hr)Longer flights? YSSY - YPPH - YSSY. (6 - 7 hrs Rtn). Just wish ORBX would hurry up with YPPH scenery. Taking ages and would love to fly the NGX outa Perth.Cheers,David
  12. :( Oh Man!This all just too much - basically the NGX is going to be the Antz-Pantz of flight simulation. You need a new Motto (like; As Real as it Gets!).I can feel a divorce coming on... cos it means I haveta go out and buys me a new PC with a BIG Subwoofer. She isn't gonna be too happy with you lot! :( This add on is going to cost me a heap 'o dough. :( Don't know why I'm not worried or feeling sad about it though? B) Cheers,David
  13. Good answe SKEWR. As an aside I too am contemplating a new build, but really wondering if waiting for the new chip that comes out next year is worth waiting for instead of SB? Mainly because if Microsoftnew Flightsim (Flight) comes out next year there's a fair chance of it needing higher end hardware than the current FSX & the NGX require. I'm interested to hear from the Beta testers on what runs best with all the sliders maxed out and flying with the NGX in a maxed out scenery area? What sort of frame rates are they getting in certain places/situatins (Eg. Brisbane or Heathrow add on scenery with max settings?).Really interested to know just what it takes to get the best performance and bang-for-buck out of both FSX, PMDG's NGX, and maxed out ORBX style scenery. Sort of need to know soon as I'm considering spending the dough as soon as my tax return comes in (if I get back what I hope for! :( ).Cheers,David
  14. Seinfield? No.You Sir, have been watching too much 'Yes Minister'. That is straight out of Sir Humphrey Appleby's brain!(Example of Sir Humphrey's power of explanation of things; Sir Humphrey: "Yes, yes, yes, I do see that there is a real dilemma here. In that, while it has been government policy to regard policy as a responsibility of Ministers and administration as a responsibility of Officials, the questions of administrative policy can cause confusion between the policy of administration and the administration of policy, especially when responsibility for the administration of the policy of administration conflicts, or overlaps with, responsibility for the policy of the administration of policy.").Although Bernard has the knack of it too... Quote: "Bernard: May I just clarify the question? You are asking who would know what it is that I don't know and you don't know but the Foreign Office know that they know that they are keeping from you so that you don't know but they do know and all we know there is something we don't know and we want to know but we don't know what because we don't know! Is that it?"Well done Robert! :( Cheers,David
  15. Hmmn,I wonder if I can convince my wife to let me buy it in time for my birthday on the 18th? Surely I'd be let off the hook for an ear-bashing then? Well done guys... great effort to get this far. Whatever you do, don't let M$ try and sign you up to develop the aircraft to include in the upcoming MS Flight!Cheers,David
  16. Hi all, Has anyone downloaded and now flying the new Infinite Flight – The first Flight Simulator for Windows Phone 7 yet?Just curious about what the reviews of it might be?Be great if it came out for iPhone and Android phones.Cheers,David
  17. Great story Alan,Thanks for contributing. Its comforting to know that all is not lost! There are some girls out there who love what we do!Cheers,David
  18. Hi All,Heres one for all of you with Wives & Girlfriends (we won't go down the gay route as I think men 'get it' about why we fly - and no... no pun intended :( )How many of you have good, great, poor,or are simply divorced! :( as a result of spending too much time in front of the PC 'Wasting time' stuffing about with an imaginary plane?Or where your obsession was the 'straw-that-broke-the-camels-back' of your marraige? (obviously other problems contributed but this was an 'issue').Just do the Poll below;I'm interest in the results.Cheers,David
  19. Oh Dear,What have I started? It was such a simple question.I dont think that this would be difficult to do... cant see why boeing would complain about this when they havent complained about another FSX simulation of the FA/18F has been done in loving detail (surely it would have more classified systems than a modified 737?) by Vertical Reality Simulations (They should team up with PMDG and form one company, as the dedication, detail and expertise in both companies would produce some gear that would really Rock the joint!. :( Was all just food for thought, whilst awaiting the release of the NGX. I'll just use my imagination for now!Cheers,David
  20. Hi Ryan,Yes I guessed that there probably would be a fair difference. There is no doubt a fair bit of guesswork would have to go into it... The only info you'd be able to get would be that gleaned from various Aviation Mag articles as they come to hand. Which isn't a lot! Certainly not yet. Even so, a visual model would be still pretty good. As long as most people didn't expect to much (how could you if it was all classified)? The Australian Wedgetail that has been mentioned would be probably easier to model. Once can always hope that someone tries to emulate the variants eventually.Regards,David Nothing like a good "...knock up ... Job " :( David Nice Pic.Just wondering what the round ball thingy is hanging off the back bottom of the tail (back from the tailskid?). Is it some form of LLTV device?David
  21. Brendan,I too am contemplating this... trying to run the Electronic Flight Bag software and FSX on one monitor is painful at best. I am going to buy a second hand 19 or 20 inch monitor to run something similar to what you want. Be interested also to see if any other have done it successfully. Guess it depends upon the video card and its software? hard to say.
  22. Hi all,Great forums. I was just wondering if PMDG are considering doing an offshoot of the 737? The P3 Orion replacement - P8 Poseidon - would surely be a logical and interesting aircraft to quickly add on to. All it would take is a tweak of the existing flight model and graphical model surely? Would really make for a very versatile aircraft to 'muck about with' in FSX from our point of view. And given PMDG's attention to detail on the 737 and every other plane I reckon they'd do a damn fine job of any P8!.Just a thought :( Cheers,David
  23. I agree with the the low to mid budget spec. A sticky with a spreadsheet that people can add to would be a really handy quick reference. We don't need anyones agreement... but maybe a sliding scale of what does and definitely does NOT work. A range of motherboards that go from say... Top of the range, to bottom of the range that does work... leaving out those that dont.Another section where not so much what brand of RAM to buy but what gets best results (latency, timing, speed, amount etc). If I can find some time to draw up a spreadsheet/table (in between the missus hassling me about time on my PC!) I'll do one as an example. Not that I know that much about things like RAM latency etc. I'm the last person to ask. But I'm sure there are many out there who could very quickly add thier 5c worth in quick time.David
  24. No I agree,Its not a Segway. Its a lawnmower (old push style) there to help you mow the grass when you've landed on an outfield after a bad test day :( Cheers,David
  25. Hi all,I've been perusing the threads on hardware stuff now for some time and have come to the the conclusion that FSX (in particular) needs some fairly specific hardware tweaks to get it to run efficiently. Not least is overclocking chipsets. What would it take for us to set up a thread that lists/defines or outlines the best combinations of Motherboard, CPU, Graphics, Memory, Powersupply (and to a certain extent Case) that people either prefer or have found works best. That would then (in theory or hopefully) assist people asking what is the best xxxx to buy? Most of us have pretty much identified what are the better performing combos out there.I for one would love to see a continuously updated thread on this with a chart that lists the last 2-3 generations of Graphics cards, motherboard and CPU's with RAM to purchase that could take out the headache what to get. Pricing could be included as an indication only (for UK, US, Oz, EU?). I just think it could be a very handy thing for us to use for full builds and upgrades. Just cannot get time at the moment to get a spreadsheet started.. but will do sometime soon.Cheers,DavidPS. Sorry heading should read 'Sticky needed..."
