Dear All,I have decided that its time to purchase a New Desktop, but this time I want to get it right first time, without any regret. I must confess that I am relying completely on your opinions as I am not 100%comfortable with all the aspects and requirements for a top knotch desktop.I basically would like a desktop that will be able to run FS and Multiple addons, smoothly and without stuttering or compromise on graphics. Somethings that will give flawless performance and framerates?I have always ran FS2004 (FS9) but am thinking now about FSX?I have a budget of around £1000I have been looking into the Alien-ware Aurora, as a possibility.I would greatly appreciate any genuine and honest opinions on the best desktop for the budget I have.Kind RegardsQ4Pilot

If able I recommend building your own.Something based around a Z68 motherboard, i5 2500k (overclocked eventually), 4-8 GB ram, GTX 560ti video cardEven for FS9 it would be a killer system, don't skimp on the power supply either, go with Corsair, Seasonic etc.

Thanks for your reply,I will look into your suggestion, although I was kinda hoping for something that was built already, as I mentioned for me the thought of building my own seems rather daunting.Anymore advice would be greatly appreciated.Q4Pilot Applause.gif

Thanks Dazz,Im taking it that would be a pretty sweet system? With Good performance?Sorry to sound so lame, but i'm genuinely not up to speed with what is what with regard to a powerful desktop, Ipads, iphones, macs on the other hand! Thanks so much,Q4Pilot Applause.gif

Like the man says - build it yourself. Six stupid little screws hold the mobo in. The Mobo book tells you exactly how to do it, Intel instructions tell you how to mount the proc. Memory is (almost) a no-brainer. Just read and follow the book. Get it running and then come back here for cooling advice. Buy a GTX 5xx gpu: an 850watt or higher psu: an i7 or i7 2600K: 8 gigs of Mushkin, Corsair or other top c8 ram: a case, KB & mouse. Buy one small drive for the OS - maybe 60 - 150 gig: a 100 - 150 for FSX, and a third 1 - 2 TB for the rest of the "stuff'. If you can afford SSD's - fine, but you said $1000. A monitor will set you back $200, so you're going to be pushing it, but you'll end up with a far better system than one created by Dell, etc.. - and you'll have gained an expertise that will boost your knowledge and confidence through the roof! Go for it.Study, and write down some of the sigs on this site. Good luck. :Applause:

That rig in OcUK has everything you need. An OCed I5 2500K (pick the highest OC option), maybe upgrade your cooling to the H70, 4GB of RAM is enough. If you're on a budget and don't want to build it yourself (it's always a good idea to DIY, but not everyone has the time or the inclination) OcUK is a great option. Their customer support is second to none and if you want to change something that is not in that list they will, just drop them an email and let them know what you want, which based on your budget is basically:I5 2500K overclocked as high as possibleThe 4GB of 1600 CL7 RAM included is fineA GTX560 video card is fine750W in the PSU is way more than enough. The TX series from Corsair are great PSU'sIf you can add a second HDD for FSX do it, but it's not like it's going to cripple your rig if you don't. 500GB is not too much but it depends on your use of the system

That's a really neat site if you're in the UK... I didn't price out an entire system but I wonder how much they charge extra to build it, OC it etc?
