MS FSX Crashing (POOF, Gone)

Featured Replies

Hi All.I have an ongoing issue that occurs on about 70% of all flights. Typically, and most frustratingly as I am on final after flying for 6-8 hours. Then, POOF, windows decides without any warning or any indication to shut down and re-boot due to a fatal error??I use Mega airport(s) and PMDG 747-4 almost exclusively.I had this computer built to run FSX pretty much exclusively.Does anyone have an idea as to why this happens? Is it too much scenery? Could my settings be wrong?Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance. With best regards.David Bell Intel®Corei7 CPU960 @ 3.20 GHz 3.19GHz12.0GBWindows 7 64bit OSNVIDIA GeForce GTX 480

Windows 7 should never shut down and reboot because of FSX or other application or 64 bit driver errors - I suspect that you may have some other system issue. Heat is the first thing that comes to mind - check your event log for application and/or system error messages.DJ

Totally agree with DJ except that your signature indicates you are not overclocked. I would say your sliders are set too high. Return them to the default and see if the crashes continue. Plus, have you checked out the CTD Forum here? There are a lot of similar crashes that may relate to your situation. The hardware forum here at AVSIM also discusses several CTD's as you describe so you might check that forum out too for similarities.Best regards,Jim

Thanks very much for your suggestions. All is good temperature wise and the sliders are set at default. This last time ,(today) as I was changing the view from the flight deck to exterior, the screen when "pale" froze and the windows "thinking circle" stayed up until I shut the program down after 20 min.I am only using this computer for FSX and am not running any other programes other than FSX related ones such as Ultimate Traffic, Aerosoft, imagine and Dream Team airports and of course my PDMG 747.I have other add-ons such as REX and FS Global but, and shyto include these until I get this sorted out.Frustraiting... I just want to FLYThank you in advance. With best regards.David BellIntel®Core™i7 CPU960 @ 3.20 GHz 3.19GHz12.0GBWindows 7 64bit OSNVIDIA GeForce GTX 480
