FS9 Autogen Annotator

Featured Replies

Hello again to alltitle says pretty much...I'm about to start annotating my photoscenery... but when I open one of the bitmaps for annotation, it gives me an option of what season texture (summer, spring, fall, winter) will I use...does that mean I have to annotate every season texture? or will it just use one, and apply it all to the rest?:( note: this is just for one area... only the textures for the different seasons changed...thanks much

You should just need to do it for one season. It's been a while since I used the FS9 annotation tool but I certainly don't remember needing to do each season. Plus, I don't think you would even need to apply it to the rest as there is only one .agn file generated which will be used be each seasonal texture which FS9 automatically adjusting the textures for the trees according to the season. One thing to remember though is the limits on the autogen for each tile. From memory it's about 300 trees and 150 buildings??? (like I said, it's been awhile, you should check this figure) If you are doing a city tile then you could easily exceed the number of buildings that FS9 will draw if you annotate every single building so you need to spread out the available150 buildings to give a decent coverage. For example, if there are 400 buildings on the tile and you start annotating each building starting at the top and working your way down then FS9 will only draw the first 150 buildings which will leave half of your tile without autogen when you load it into FS9.I think the option to choose a season is just one of those odd things that MS tools seem to throw up every now and then.

Whew!!! That's a relief!!!Yes bud' there's a limit on the FS9 annotator too... but for this version, they increased the building limit to 300 and vegetation to 600 per sq. km of the tile... and for my project, that's (much) more than enough...thanks much! :(
