  1. much thanks for the reply one question, where do I find the .ini file? or will it be automatically generated when I code the gauge into the panel.cfg file? EDIT: ok I think I found the file, much thanks again!
  2. Hi to all... I am looking into adding an aural alert sound for the FS9 default king air altitude selector, that will sound off once the altimeter reading passes 1,000ft before the selected altitude on the selector, and will sound off again intermittently when the altimeter reading drifts 200ft above or below the selected altitude on the selector... (I already have the .wav file for the sound) I was looking at Doug's XML sound gauge to facilitate the feature, but I'm getting confused by how to properly code it, plus, I'm having difficulty as to finding the .ini file being mentioned in the readme... if anyone has a complete or detailed tutorial on how to use/configure the gauge for this purpose, it will be much appreciated... I think I can figure out what to do from there on in from my (still very) limited coding experience thanks much! (I downloaded the version 5.2.0 of the gauge from his site)
  3. I guess I'm going to be shot by asking this question... but here goes... is there a way to backward convert an FSX aircraft mdl to FS9 aircraft mdl (textures included of course)? I have an original copy of FSX Gold here, and have extracted the aircraft folder for this plane, and analyzing the mdl using a viewer, the FSX rendering of the 350 is as close to the real one as it can get (ok it suffers from a very slight wing placement error, but what the heck...) so I was thinking, if its possible to port this visual model to FS9 to replace their own rendition of the 350 there... I'm expecting some bashing, but I just need to know... thanks
  4. I guess this is a case of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" thing There are Dash 8s operating here (flown by Air Philippines Express), 3 Q300s & 5 Q400s. I flew an "airline rescue" flight last year for a Q300 that wasn't able to depart from a community airport because of faulty starter/generators. I agree though, that the Dash 8s are very nice looking airplanes. I like the Q400 in particular. That one puts sleek & sexy back on commuter turboprops... (not to mention it clearly defines the quiet on the Q series ) King Airs are on a (bit) different place from the commuter turboprops, they have their own style that has that certain appeal when sitting beside other airplanes, jets & props alike... but maybe that's just how I'm attached to the airplane I'm flying for a living but I'm with you on this, I really like a PMDG Q400 too, along with the 350
  5. Yup, the lines of that airplane simply never gets old... even when placed next to other more recent designs and the big airliners, the the airplane simply makes a statement on its own (and to be honest, a good bunch of airline pilots I've talked really wanted to have the chance to fly it)... And I agree, there may be lots more hoping for a new King Air 350 for the sim, but no response... AFG's 300 was the most viable (they said that there was a chance for them to rework it to the 350, but it didn't happened), with the fuselage stretch (& associated textures) & winglets being the only ones that needed to be worked upon (their VC only requires one more switch position on the overhead panel and changeout of the prop synch switch back to the default), and they pretty much nailed it... unfortunately, their site went offline a few weeks ago, and nobody in their team is responding to my requests anymore (since last year actually)... So maybe its up to somebody to do it finally (hopefully, rather)... anyone?
  6. I sure hope the PMDG guys would make a 350 for both FS9 and X in my opinion, it is the most overlooked airplane in MS' default lineup... I've flown (for real) both the EFIS-85 (aka Collins Pro Line 2) and Collins Pro Line 21 full glass, both are really nice systems, but the Pro Line 21 system gives much more situational awareness for the flight and is very easy to use... The G1000 is another great system for the King Airs, but so far, its only up to the B200 series that it was STC'ed, the 350 retrofit to the G1000 is still proceeding for its STC requirements... I've only learned about it when I attended Garmin's avionics products seminar last May... (I have references for both the original EFIS & Pro Line 21 that will prove useful should the PMDG team will tacke it) Here's our ship by the way
  7. Hi to the PMDG team! I personally would like to see a King Air 350 developed by you guys (preferably compatible to FS9 also) if you guys need references, please contact me... I have everything, including the actual airplane itself... I fly one as a first officer, and a good 350 for the sim will be a big boost for self-proficiency sim sessions... thank you very much!
  8. ok, starting proved to be a bit trickier than I thought... so now I'm thinking of asking permission from the AFG team to obtain a copy of their original source files for their king air 300, and stretch it to make the 350... I hope their e-mail addresses are still working, as the AFG site and forums is now gone... hopefully temporary... (to the AFG team if they are here in the AVSIM forums also... I hope you would consider this request, it would be a big help...) thanks!
  9. Thanks sir Al!I think I'm gonna do a simple model of the 350 first, just to see how the model will look like, then move on to the more fiddly bits of it piece by piece... reference-wise, that's one part that I won't have any problems whatsoever... except maybe the sectional parts, I'll ask around our maintenance unit if they have sectional diagrams on their maintenance manuals later... The flight model for this will be from the default one (which already has a tweak I put in, based on the one available here, can't remember his name though, I'll look for the file later, because he did a very good job of correcting the dynamics, as he came almost exactly how the real thing handles as I observed it) I'll post updates here when I get into it thanks again!
  10. Hi to all... as some have seen my thread about the king air 350, I guess asking the good guys at AFG would not be possible for now since the AFG site and forums are down for the count... frustrated by the fact that there's no decent 350 model out there for FS9, I finally decided to face the facts and make my own... first things first - what tool should I use... I have version 3 of Abacus' FS Design Studio installed here (I have a copy of GMax too, not installed though)... which one should I use? and second is... how do I start these? for references, I have everything I could think of at my disposal (printed & electronic refs), including the real airplane itself, the only problem would be how do I translate the plane's model precisely & in detail into a 3D model... I plan to have a decent VC for it as well... any help will be much appreciated to get me started... I'm gonna need this, since my setup here could potentially be a vital tool for my job as a pilot of this airplane... thank you very much! P.S. I'm just gonna do the model, I plan to ask a friend to do the textures for me, and the rest (panel, gauges, sound) will be coming from the default - note though that I also have already edited some of them for better realism (sound.cfg, panel bitmap & cfg) and I do intend on making it downloadable here...
  11. <bump> so any takers to do an updated model? just the model (and textures, plus VC if it can be done too...) only, the other items (panel, sound, aircraft.cfg, etc) can be left out... thanks much P.S. it seems that the AFG website just recently went offline... I was prepping my references for them too... I hope its temporary...
  12. the airport I'm working on is San Fernando Airport in the Philippines (RPUS)the airport originally is only composed of a single runway and a tower beside it, and it was misplaced by a few tens of meters off to the west of the actual location (based on the airfield's ARF on the sim)... when I started the project I widened and extended the runway to match the new dimensions (since the whole airport was recently renovated to accommodate larger aircraft), added the ramp and connecting taxiways, and moved the entire shebang eastward to its proper location (runway, apron, ARF & all)...I'm still not sure what file in the scenery folder in the main FS9 folder is the one offending...I'll prepare my project for download sir, I'll upload it as soon as I can...(please PM me your email add, I'll send it there... )thanks very much!!!
  13. I tried the tweak you suggested... I'll work on it again later, but so far, no joy... I used the thread about removing airfield boundaries... so far I haven't removed that pesky poly that keeps buildings and trees from appearing...I attached a screenie (should have done that before...) showing the missing autogen footprints... thanks much again!
