Suggestion for another Turboprop

After the Dash8, I thought it would be nice to see a new ATR series....perhaps the ATR42/72-600 after deliveries start next year...any thoughts?

I'd go for the SF34. I'm not a fan of the ATR and it's already been done. That's just my opinion, however.Kyle

Well I'd like to see a Saab 340 or 2000. I guess everyone has his favourite :( But what I can't understand is why they didn't go for the Q400.. :(

Perhaps the 1st part of what you said, answers the second?"I guess everyone has his favourite" :(

:( I guess if you'd make a poll which Dash8 version to model the Q400 would make it. It's just the most modern plane of the -8's. Anyway.. I think it's much too early to think about the over-next turboprop.. first comes the NGX, then J41 SP2, then -8, then 777, and maybe then the next commuter..

Isn't there an ATR series out there that's pretty decent? (not mentioning who the developer is) But I've heard rave reviews of it, never tried it myself though. Of course it's probably not up to PMDG standards. :(

Majestic software has already released a dash8-300, but its very primitive visually and VC wise in this day and age. I own it but have given up on it because of a twitchy flight model, and the VC will hurt your eyes because its so blurry and the gauges are hard to read. However, most people say it is supposed to have the best flight model and systems depth possible in a simulation, with airline customers training their crews on it. But IMHO, it aint' all that, at least in FSX.The good news is they are working on a -400 (FSX only), but who knows when it will be released.I'm rooting for PMDG's rendition, I don't care if its a 100/200/300 or 400, as long as it gets the JS4100 treatment its gonna sell like hotcakes!

There is, and it is pretty good. At least it was until the JS41 rewrote the rule book. I still pull it out of the hanger occaisionly, but to be honest, it just doesn't cut it anymore.

I was on the Beta Test Team for the Flight1 ATR-72-500. I also have 12,000+ hours in the real ATR series aircraft for a US-based regional airline. The difference between the ATR-42/72-600 and all previous models is like night and day. The -600 series will have an all new glass cockpit and would be a worthy "next project" for PMDG. I, for one, am pulling for the ATR!Terry Swindle

I would vote for the Dash 7... That one has tremendous rumble out of its 4 engines and can land in funny places like Courchevel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55SswKIn18AAnd there is a nice scenery package of this crazy airport too.No glass cockpit though, but hey, don't get spoiled too much

I would really love to see a PMDG style Pilatus PC-12 NG with honeywell avionics package! The PC-12 is my absolute favorite GA and I'm shure that PMDG could make an absolute fantastic FSX model of this great airplane!

The turboprop is not a vast market commercially speaking. Heck there really is only the Dash8, ATR, and some SAABs here and there. Lots of GA stuff but I think from a sales point of view you are limiting your sales with GA aircraft. I think the Dash8 will sell very well. Its a great aircraft. Sure it would be nice to see the 400 instead but i can see where PMDG is coming from since their access to a 400Q is probably much more limited. The 300 is a nice 270-280 kt aircraft which will satisfy a lot of FSers. Besides show me a VA that doesn't use a Dash8 at some level. Looking forward to it. A nice RJ sure would be nice though although not a prop.Jack C

You know what I'd love, a redo of the good ole B1900, ya the existing oneis OK. In fact, I still fly it more than any other turboprop, its great tojust load a plan and go, nothing fancy or time-consuming.I see one of these beauties a lot leaving and arriving at the airport rightnear home, its a plane I've come to love.Having a cockpit done as well as the JS would just be awesome, pretty pleasePMDG, a B1900X :)

Anyone know what the sales were like for the J41 release? (Equivalence to all other PMDG aircraft sales)
