Norwegian mesh spikes - help!

Featured Replies

I've been attempting to fly around the Norwegian coastline in my BN Islander using Tileproxy for scenery. Unfortunately this is ruined by loads of spikes in the mesh which start at ground level and disappear into the clouds looking like some weird Superman special effect :( Can anyone recommend a good FSX compatible mesh for Norway and/or the whole of Scandinavia?ThanksAdam

Are you sure it's the mesh? Try the flight with the mesh disabled and see. Then try the flight with the mesh enabled, but TP disabled.Otherwise, it's possible that the mesh source wasn't compiled properly. Many times if there is no data that gets assigned a value, which gets excluded during the compiling process. Mesh is pretty simple stuff to work with, if that's all people are doing is making mesh. :(

Thanks for the tip. I'm not using any aftermarket mesh it's the bog standard FSX product. How do I disable it? In Scenery Manager? I didn't think Tileproxy would be causing it - that is just downloading images, no mesh information AFAIK.ThanksAdam

Running a 32bit OS? Sounds like the system is getting overloaded and that's why the visual problems appear. You can check by turning TP off and flying back over the area and seeing if the terrain problems still exist? When you fly TP do you turn down the autogen settings at all?

Sounds more like Autogen spike to me as I am not aware that mesh can cause a spike. Post a shot of it so we can have a look.Jim

There are certain issues with the mesh in Norway. You could try using "Norway Quality Mesh" instead. It was originally made for FS9, but it also works with FSX. Get it from http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliotek/FS2004/scenery/europa/norge/114.html. If you enjoy flying in Norway then you should probably get a few of the other freeware sceneries available for Norway. I recommend Norway Scenic X and Airports of Norway, both available from http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliotek/fsx/scenery/europa/norge.html. Installation instructions might be in Norwegian, let me know if there's something in them that you dont understand
