June 7, 201114 yr HiI'm having problems with the A/T in the default b737, the engines keep surging during the descent, it's not related with the wind or weather because I'm flying with "All clear" and no extra weather programs running. Please help me!Thanks

Either that or your throttle hardware is broken. Or... thinking about it, maybe you have a conflict between your keyboard assignments and other control inputs, and another command is adversely affecting operation of the throttle.Does it happen during any other phase of your flight, and does the problem occur if you temporarily swap to another aeroplane during the period that the surges occur? Alt+A, A will let you change aircraft whenever you feel like it. Try a plane of a similar size and speed.Regards,D
June 7, 201114 yr Author Thx, I will try swapping planes, I don't have any throttle hardware, the problem present during ascent. descent and approach. BTW, i have the default controller/key assignments .Later I post the results Hi.Sounds to me like you have the autopilot on and it's trying to correct some other problem with airspeed, descent rate or attitude. June 7, 201114 yr The default 737 is not a good representation of what a 737 A/P A/T works like. Peter Schluter
June 8, 201114 yr Author Yes I know that, but, its in FS, so I want to use it. The most curious fact about this problem is that, a week or so ago, the A/T worked fine and suddenly the problem started. I've uninstalled all the games and add-ons and reinstalled it again (A lot of work BTW), and it continues.
June 8, 201114 yr Author I swapped planes, and the problem continues, is the autopilot gauge or something like that damaged?
June 8, 201114 yr Hi.I suppose it's possible that the AP gauge is damaged, possibly some feedback gains corrupted, but I still suspect it's just struggling to compensate for something that's wrong with your climb or approach configuration. During one of those surging approaches or climbs what happens if you disengage the AP between surges? Does the plane behave normally for the rest of that phase without any further input from you? Also, can the plane be flown manually down the approach, with minimum input after setting it up?I've only been using FS9 for about 18 months & only just graduated onto my first twin turbo. Someone else here will be able to give you some guidelines on speeds, flap settings et c. for heavies.Regards,D edit: another thought... You're not flying overweight are you? I mean have you picked up a full load of passengers then inadvertently taxied through a fuel trigger pushing your weight way beyond the maximum TO or landing weights.
June 8, 201114 yr Author I've checked and I'm not flying overweight. When I disconnet the A/T, I can finish the approach manually, only adjusting the thrust to the correct value ( Around 55 % the times I've done it)

It does sound like something got corruptedI'm not at my sim PC but on one of the installation discs there's a cab file that holds all the default gauges. You may find something in there but to be honest I'm not sure how the sim-autopilot 's responses function, whether it's through a gauge or just something in the aircraft.cfg or *.air fileIf it's a gauge, then reinstalling the autopilot may work, if you can find it. You could try backing up the whole../gauges/ folder and extracting everything from the relevant cab file. Do check the paths first, in case some stuff is intended for other folders. If the autopilot operates through an aircraft file then in view of the fact that the problem occurs with several aircraft I guess it's not the AP that's at fault..I'm drawing a blank now: I think that may have been my last straw!Regards,D
