Cannot get FSEdit SDK to run

Recommended Posts

Guest JonP01

Anyone else having problems running the FS2004 FSedit SDK? After installing it, I get a message that mfc70.dll is not found. A quick search of the internet suggests that mfc70.dll is a component of Visual Studio and is not a standard dll component of Windows. Just installing this particular dll does not help either. The message then states that "Windows cannot run this program because it is in an invalid format". Happens to me on both Windows 98 and Windows ME. I haven't another OS to test it on.I'm getting an uncomfortable feeling that this SDK might only run on Windows XP (maybe not even that) or else anyone wanting to run it requires Visual studio installed as well. That would be a bummer, especially since there is no support for it ;(

Hi Jon,Did you download the installer? It says an installer is required for ver of Windows except XP. There is a link to the instller(s) at the same site as the SDKs. R-

Hum... I even think the DLL is in the main FS2004 folder. Make a copy of it in your Windows folder, or in the folder you have installed the SDK to.

Hi JeanLuc,You suggestion works as well, althoough it asked for 3 dlls, all of which were in the main FS9 folder. So it looks like people don't need necessarily need the 1.6 Mb installer unless they are loading the SDK on a machine without FS2004.Thanks mate :-)

Hi. I did that and the aircraft folder is highlighted but it won't find the aircraft. It also says there is a Word.doc. My installation has no Word.doc only a readme. Do you have a Word.doc in the folder? I'm running XP Pro. Thanks, regards, Bob.

I reinstalled it and Voila! There is the Word.doc. It takes forever to open the aircraft I guess beacuse I have so many A/C. Sorry for the negative post. Regards, Bob.
