J41 engine fire query

Featured Replies

Hi allI have read the manual cover to cover and read the engine startup guides and forum posts, but am still having trouble with engine fires on the J41. I am very careful to engage the stop latches at shut down, and check prior to starting up that they are engaged (and i use the pump if not). However I seem to still randomly have engine fire issues on startup. This randomness rises to almost 100% when restarting engines (ie. if i shut down the engine and restart immediately, it usually results in a fire even with stop latches engaged). My request is therefore this: - Could someone please list for me what the conditions are that cause the engine fire logic to occur in the Sim? eg. what position the power levers, condition levers, generators on/off etc... I cannot see any difference in the state of my cockpit between a startup that fails, and one that does not.I have followed and re-read the manuals and guides so many time but am getting very frustrated now! Thanks in advance.

You can't restart them immediately! You need to wait until your egt is below 150C or maybe 200. I don't have access to my manuals right now. If you start the engines before they've cooled off, they'll burn up every time.
