FS Labs A320 FSX release set for 18 Aug
Ohhhh i was really hoping that this addon would suck. Although i have been away from my PC for several months (and potentially a lot longer yet), I was looking forward to coming back to P3D and getting the PMDG 744 to go alongside my beloved NGX, 777 and DHC-8. The problem i have is if i want the FSL bus instead/as well, i will need to buy a joystick (having only recently binned mine for a CH Yoke). And, if i did get it my flying time would decrease and my time be spent instead trying to choose whether to take the NGX or Airbus for a spin. AND, I will have to study Airbus systems to be able to work the thing. Oh how irritatingly expensive it would be if the FSL turns out to be good.... first world problems eh?

Gone and done it - joined a Gliding club!
Enjoy it. One of my true passions in life. Way preferable to power flying in my opinion Just don't get beaten by frustration caused by the two key differences to power flying: - it's a "club" where club rules apply, so be prepared to spend long days of chores and glider towing between flights (which i was always more than happy to do pre-wife and family, but was annoyed by those that didn't!) - and the weather. Need I say more. But see through those and persevere, then it's truly the most fantastic flying experience available. I am very jealous. Make the most of it!!!

Time to leave the Man Cave behind :-(
Boooooo. I know the pain too - currently between houses so lost my set up.

P3d Regrets
No regrets. Only limitation is where an addon is not supported in P3D (eg. Coolsky DC9). Also be wary of addon replacement costs - it adds up!

What's Your longest Flight in FSX
Hahaha, so true!!!

Great announcement from A2A about a new Captain of the Ship Aircraft
...and its beautiful! Hopefully native P3D.

Tower 3D from FEELTHERE released
Excellent. Now tell me, will this free up some FT resource to work on an update to the ERJ 135/145, with a new VC and P3D compatibility? Please oh please oh PLEEEEEASE??????? Wishing them luck with this release.

What's your day job?
She is a beautiful 5 months old. Being a dad is great, even if I do miss losing myself in a simulated flight for a few hours every now and then. I will again soon I'm sure - maybe in time for P3d v 4.0!!!

What's your day job?
I work in the city as a fInancial and business advisor to the UK transport sector (primarily rail). Beyond that, i spend my free time raising my baby daughter. And beyond that (doesnt exist), i used to like flight simming...... (PS - I like these posts. Puts a sense of personality behind the message boards!)

P3D 3.2 released. Viewpoint shift is now FIXED
Oh that's great, thanks for confirming. I think I may inadvertently have not updated to 3.1 in that case. Silly me. Thanks for taking the time to set me straight.... Twice! Great news about the viewpoint shift fix - its been around so long, I think people may even start to miss it! Haha

P3D 3.2 released. Viewpoint shift is now FIXED
Perhaps we are talking about a different issue? Im meaning the issue with night light splashes (strobes, wingtip nav lights, landing lights etc...) not showing on the ground unless you started the first flight in night. They didnt work if you transition from day to night. This was not a problem in v3.0, but became a problem with PMDG aircraft in v3.1 (i think PMDG have acknoweldged it an issue, but apparently the ball is in LM's court to fix!)

P3D 3.2 released. Viewpoint shift is now FIXED
Are the night lights now fixed too??? Here's hoping....

777 weights
You did dismiss it initially - he asked for the definitive weight of the PMDG aircraft (which is not at all like asking for human weight - there is indeed a definitive weight that has been modelled!). You have now answered it. Anyway - out of interest, was it based on a particular aircraft or the Boeing APM?
-
777 weights
I think John had a valid question. There IS a definitive set of those weights for the aircraft PMDG chose to model, surely? I found the only way to find the OEW was to empty the plane and see what the TOW was (which gave it fo 1 d.p.). What is the OEW PMDG chose to model? Did you base it on a partiular in service aircraft, or use one of Boeings illusrative examples in its APM? (hopefully im not hijacking the thread here, rather adding to it...)

Prepar3D v3.1 future updates
Thanks for the heads up Vincent. Can't believe that errant head movement is finally going to be fixed. I wouldnt be surprised if people find themselves missing it when its gone! Im still hopeful the other issues in my post will be addressed. And another I have subsequently thought of - being able to switch between complex planes! I think that one is only partially in LM's hands. Cheers.

Prepar3D v3.1 future updates
Hi all I know LM are continuing to work hard on developing what is already a superb platform... and I love it - great stability and performance. I was wondering if anyone "in the know" (Rob Ainscough.... im looking at you, as usual, you poor guy.....) is aware of future planned updates. Im in no hurry as I love the current build, however there are a couple of issues that 3.1 introduced that developers are struggling with. Namely... PMDG: issues with external lights not creating splashes (a work around being you have to start at night i think...) Majestic: Something causing their wonderful Q400 to need a beta version of one of their DLL files to correct some issues that apparently are due to P3D coding changes (im under the impression that its still not a complete fix...) Im wondeing whether LM are aware of the "issues", indeed acknowledge them as "issues", and if so, whether they plan have them fixed for v3.2. PMDG have made comment before that LM aren't the most responsive of developers (bigger fish to fry i guess) but am hopeful that given the wonderful, enthusiastic and proacive community that we are, word is getting back to LM by plenty of other means (Rob... looking at you again! ) Are there any other P3D testers/developers gracing us with the presence over here? Best wishes

Organizing Your Aircraft
Easy way to slim the hangar down.... If it hasn't got A2A, PMDG or Majestic in the title, then bin it. Then I choose flights based on real world airline routes... Ones I have been on in real life, ones from my favourite base airports, or occasionally routes that take in some "fun" weather, found by watching a bit of The Weather Channel

Mouse clickability problem
Didnt start P3D loading only the PMDG plane into memory - I bet its that!
-
PMDG recommendation
Yep, NGX and 777. To hell with it, get both!!!!!!!!1

New Logo?
They're awesome Pe11e!!!!!!!!!!!! The "A" looks a bit like Airbus' though. Cue law suit....

Upgrading to Windows 10 and P3D
As far as I can tell, you CAN switch off automatic updates of drivers. I have turned them off and downloaded/installed my own set of drivers. That is the potential problem to FSX/P3D. Automatic updates to Win10 shouldn't pose any problems.

Flight schools in UK?
And did it "recommend" one? No. Hence the OP's post in a forum asking for recommendations.

Flight schools in UK?
Scott - please ignore the unfirendly "try Google" posts. They are becoming more and more frequent here these days. You asked for a recommendation, and I would suggest The Pilot Centre at Denham airfield, near Uxbridge. Tight circuit and v. busy on flyable days (as all clubs near London will be), but a nice atmosphere there. C152's mostly, with C180's, C172 and C182's for later on. Further afield - not sure whats at Cranfield these days? I also here Booker has a good school or two. Cheers, Rich

3 Imaginesim airports now freeware
Apologies for my post - seems to have caused offence to some. Thanks to all those that did give constructive answers though. I will try and only contribute to P3D forums from now on - I had not realised I was in a FS2004 one (having followed the trending topic title).

3 Imaginesim airports now freeware
They are for F2004. Has anyone tried them in FSX or Prepar3d?
