Help needed with SGA MD80 repaint

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I really need your help with this one. I nearly finished my repaint of SGA´s MD80 for FS2004 in Austrian Airlines special logo "grüezi Zürich" as shown below:What annoys me is, that Austrian´s MD-80s had a thin red outline on those protruding fins (marked in red circles) at the engines and on the fuselage way below the cockpit windows. I followed Leen´s instructions on how to find certain spots on a paintkit texture, but had no luck with this one.So has anyone of you ever succeded in painting those small fins?Regards from Graz,Werner

If you followed my instructions correctly and you still cannot find these spots ,they probably have these colored spots defined by the mdl file, wich is something we cannot alter. The most basic method of investigation is simply making ALL texturefiles pure white. If the red spots are still visible on this totally white bird its a mdlfile thing. If not, make one texture green and try again and repeat this action until the spot turns green .The texture of which colorchange changes the spots is the texturefile you are looking for. If you followed my instructions correctly you have done this procedure more or less already.CheersLeen

Thank you, Leen!Using FS Repaint as my wysiwyg editor (another great tip of yours!) I did as you suggested and as a rough but quick method even paintet the whole fuselage template in bright red. Nothing happened, the protruding fin still remained in its metal color. Then I dyed all the separate templates (engine, wings, interior ...) in red, to the same result. So as you´ve mentioned, I suppose these fins get their color from the model itself.Bad luck for me.Best regards and have a great weekend!Werner P.S:at least I´ve found the texture area for the fins on the engine nacelles - it´s the small square right of the engines on the ENGINES_T.bmp. As I was only looking at the forward fins, I just missed this one.
