December 15, 200322 yr Also to say one very weird thing concerning this:When I delete fs9.cfg, after it's recreated, terrain section looks like this:[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=70.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=2TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=0.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=0.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=0why are 3 last settings on 0??????Shouldn't they be something like 4 or 5 and so?Word Not Allowed
December 15, 200322 yr Hi,You are probably changing the wrong fs9.cfg file. I believe some are just copies. Do a search for all the copies, and try changing the various files until you see a difference.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page

December 15, 200322 yr Bigshot, could you please do something?Position yourself over some ocean (lots of water), turn on water effects to maximum (upper slider will go to land only). Clear weather. FSUIPC visibility disabled. 25,000ft or higher, daytime, and take a screenshot looking towards sea. Post it here. Please? :)Word Not Allowed
December 15, 200322 yr ""...FSUIPC visibility disabled. 25,000ft or higher, daytime..""I don't use FSUIPC. It hosed my graphics in FS2002 and I presume would do the same in FS9.I'm aware of the affect portrayed in the above image. Probably has something to do with the way FS2k2 and FS9 display textures from certain angles. I run with the above extended settings and see that effect from certain angles, only not nearly as severe, and only from certain angles. Here's an example with my 9700Pro:http://www.x-plane.org/users/mgdbottled/FS9Water7.jpg
December 15, 200322 yr Thanks Bigshot!I've uploaded to my server the flight from above, in which is very easy to see.Would you mind starting that flight and making a screenie?KostaFile: http://www.Word Not Allowed.dawolf.at/fs9.zip (8kb)
December 15, 200322 yr Author Hi Word Not Allowed,This will not help you resolve this issue :( but at least it may help to reassure you that your setup is not at fault. If you have downloaded and installed OceanFX 2 - FS2004 you might care to look again at the included documentation. Under the section headed 'High Flyers' there is the following explanation, and I quote:"It appears that Flight Simulator does not draw the swells over the entire water area surrounding you, but only a couple of miles to all sides of your position. After that, the default light blue color shows again. This is important to keep in mind, as cruising over the ocean at high altitude would have a (probably) undesirable effect, namely the blocky areas around your aircraft. OceanFX 2 does not solve this, so if it is something that bothers you as, you may want to consider using the default swells if you plan on cruising at high altitude. Wavesets are still free to be chosen without any negative side-effects. All in all, you will need to fiddle with the settings to find out what you like best."I should add that there is a screen capture illustrating the problem which matches what you are seeing.Mike
