July 13, 201114 yr Hi,I just installed FSX Gold Edition and upon first flight I see its not filling my screen in full screen mode. (I have a widescreen monitor) I researched it and learned that this was a common problem and that apparently Microsoft forgot about widescreen support during development but that it could be fixed by altering the .cfg file. Long story short I was unable to save the file after altering it. Then I go into the game setting and change the resolution from the original 1024x768x32 to 1280x768x32 and now it fills the screen. Im just trying to better understand why this was such a common problem that required altering the .cfg file and I apparently fixed it by changing the resolution. Was this a previous problem that was fixed with an update? Am I just stretching the screen and now getting a distorted view? I appreciate any help. Sorry, Im not very computer savy. I just want to make sure Im not distorting the beautiful scenery in this sim.Tommy

It sounds to me like a video issue not a software issue.ThanksTyler
July 13, 201114 yr Moderator Tommy,What I would do is go into your FSX.cfg and go to the [Display] section and enter WideViewAspect=True, so that it looks like this[Display]WideViewAspect=TrueIf the WideViewAspect entry is already in the section but set to False then dont enter it again, just change it to True. Then start FSX, go into the display settings and set the resolution to your native screen resolution and you should be fine, just make sure your running the same resolution for your desktop as your running for FSX.
