radeon 9800pro, omega or catalyst 3.10 for FS2004 ?

Featured Replies

Hi,I'm running the omega driver that fixed the text corruption and menu flashes. I saw in ATI site the catalyst 3.10 that says:Setting the game Flight Simulator 2004 to display at 1024x768 or 1280x1024 followed by starting a new flight no longer results in the menu being flipped just before the new flight is about to begin So what is better ? Anyone tested this catalyst ?Thanks,Ulisses

anyone ?

Ulisses, Good morning from Albuquerque and thanks for the heads up on the new 3.10 drivers. I just downloaded them and will check them out as soon as I get some breakfast. Hopefully, they have done something to fix the texture "wiggles / shimering problems with the 9800 Pro series cards.Terry

Hi Terry. Finally I hear someone talking about the texture "wiggles/shimmering" with the 9800Pro series.I suppose you are talking about what happens with distant mountain horizon and clouds intersecting mountains. If this is the case, welcome to my club. The problem is of huge impact on visuals, and it often makes flying unbearable.I've installed the 3.10's, they don't solve the problem at all, and I even doubt it will ever be taken care of.I'm trying everything to solve this graphical horror, but so fare I had no success. Let's keep in touch; to me, not solving this thing will probably mean getting rid of the sim.luca

Running the 9800XT with 3.9 and no issues, but its at 1600x1200 maxed. possible I'd see these issues at a lower res.

I'm reverting from Cat 3.10 back to the Omega 3.9 drivers. 3.10 gives me worse quality and slower.

Hi Ulissess,So far the 3.10's give "me" the appearance of being the same as the 3.9's. I will however be loading the new Omega drivers (based on the 3.10's) once they're up on his site. The Omega Drivers have ALWAYS given me better image quality than the official ATI drivers due to the built in tweaks of the Omega drivers. Performance wise, no increase on the official drivers.Mikehttp://www.members.shaw.ca/madamo/boeingsig.jpg
