Thinking of upgrading

Featured Replies

Hi all,I am thinking of upgrading my system which is :- AMD6400+ BE + 4 gb of PC6400 + nivda BFG 9800GTX+,I running win7 Home Premium+ SP1 and FSX + sp2.I use a lot of addons like PMDG 747-400X Level-d iFly 737x plus lots of addon scenery and UT2.At Mega airport Frankfurt I get around 15-18FPS in the VC on the ground and 23-34fps in the airIf I upgraded to a i5 2500K + 4 or 8 Gb of DDR3 1600 (not sure if 8 will make a difference )+ a MSI P67A-C45 Intel P67 MB , at this time I can't changes the GPU so I will be keeping my 9800GTX+ what should my FPS be like? will I see a big improvement?many thanksmark

Judging by the FSXMark11 benchmark results, my setup is probably the most comparable system to compare your planned upgrade to. However, the FPS for the benchmark aren't exactly going to be comparable to the scenario you've posted above. I can tell you that the upgrade will certainly be worth it!With the benchmark I get AVG 33MIN 23MAX 39If you really wanted to get an idea of what the upgrade would be like, you could always reinstall FSX on your current system and run the benchmark. I know it sounds like a lot of work, especially if you decide it's not worth it, but I'm positive you will be convinced to upgrade after seeing the numbers.
