FS2004 question

Featured Replies

Today I flew from Amsterdam to Milan using a FFX 737-300. When I was adjusting the fuel it kept telling me I was over wieght even with as little as 40% fuel in each tank and 0 on the payload. Was this because I was using a default 737 panel in the plane?(never made it to Milan cause FS crashed to desktop, might of been the seasonal crash to desktop thing I read about here....happened yesterday to on a flight from ORD-BOS)

Hi,There seems to be a problem with the FDE in FS2004, I get the same problem.I don't know if anyone is, or will be, working on a fix, or if there is one available.Dan.

I think and, as I have deinstalled Fs2002 and can't check, I stress THINK that there has been a change in the way fuel and payload are handled between FS2002 and FS9.Payload was effectively fixed and within "zero fuel weight" in FS2002, wheras now it's an explicit number which needs to be set in FS9.Most FS2002 aircraft brought forward into FS9 therefore have a tendency to be "overweight" if you add payload. The older aircraft which haven't been corrected for FS9 seem to have only a couple of statements in WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE section of the aircraft.cfg file, which look like this:[WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]max_gross_weight = 270000.000empty_weight = 142110.000You can look up maximum and empty weight numbers for the aircraft you want from www.airliners.net.You may notice that the zero fuel empty weight from airliners.net is substantially less than in the "empty_weight" statement you have in the aircraft.cfg file at present, wheras the maximum weight is probably about right. If you put the lower empty weight into the aircraft.cfg, you should be able to add fuel and payload without getting an "overweight" message. If the max weight is wrong too, correct that as well.If there are a whole bunch of "station_load" statements in the Weight_And_Balance" section, like this:[WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]reference_datum_position=0.00,0.00,0.00empty_weight_CG_position=0.00,0.00,0.00max_number_of_stations=60station_load.0=200,60.00,-1.90,4.00station_load.1=190,60.00, 1.90,4.00station_load.2=5216,14.50,-17.30,-4.10station_load.3=5216,14.50, 17.30,-4.10station_load.4=600,55.50,-2.50,3.80station_load.5=600,55.50, 2.50,3.80station_load.6=600,52.16,-2.50,3.80station_load.7=340,48.82,-2.50,4.00station_load.8=170,48.82,2.50,4.00station_load.9=170,45.48,-2.50,4.00station_load.10=170,45.48,2.50,4.00station_load.11=170,42.14,-2.50,4.00station_load.12=340,42.14,2.50,4.00station_load.13=340,38.80,-2.50,4.00station_load.14=510,38.80,2.50,4.00station_load.15=170,35.46,-2.50,4.00station_load.16=170,35.46,2.50,4.00station_load.17=340,32.12,-2.50,4.00station_load.18=510,28.78,-2.50,4.00station_load.19=170,28.78,2.50,4.00station_load.20=340,25.44,2.50,4.00station_load.21=510,22.10,-2.50,4.00station_load.22=340,22.10,2.50,4.00station_load.23=170,18.76,-2.50,4.00station_load.24=170,18.76,2.50,4.00station_load.25=340,15.42,2.50,4.00station_load.26=510,12.08,-2.50,4.00station_load.27=170,12.08,2.50,4.00station_load.28=170,8.74,-2.50,4.00station_load.29=170,8.74,2.50,4.00station_load.30=340,5.40,-2.50,4.00station_load.31=510,5.40,2.50,4.00station_load.32=510,2.06,-2.50,4.00station_load.33=170,2.06,2.50,4.00station_load.34=170,-1.28,-2.50,4.00station_load.35=340,-1.28,2.50,4.00station_load.36=170,-4.62,2.50,4.00station_load.37=510,-7.96,-2.50,4.00station_load.38=510,-7.96,2.50,4.00station_load.39=170,-11.30,-2.50,4.00station_load.40=170,-11.30,2.50,4.00station_load.41=340,-14.64,-2.50,4.00station_load.42=170,-17.98,2.50,4.00station_load.43=510,-21.32,-2.50,4.00station_load.44=170,-21.32,2.50,4.00station_load.45=340,-24.66,2.50,4.00station_load.46=340,-28.00,-2.50,4.00station_load.47=340,-28.00,2.50,4.00station_load.48=510,-31.34,-2.50,4.00station_load.49=170,-31.34,2.50,4.00station_load.50=170,-34.68,-2.50,4.00station_load.51=340,-38.02,2.50,4.00station_load.52=340,-41.36,-2.50,4.00station_load.53=510,-41.36,2.50,4.00station_load.54=170,-44.70,-2.50,4.00station_load.55=170,-44.70,2.50,4.00station_load.56=170,-48.04,2.50,4.00station_load.57=1200,-51.50,0.00,3.80station_load.58=4800,35.00,0.00,-1.00station_load.59=5600,-25.00,0.00,-1.00empty_weight=126200.00empty_weight_roll_MOI=1854568.00empty_weight_pitch_MOI=1794268.00empty_weight_yaw_MOI=2209567.00empty_weight_coupled_MOI=1300.00max_gross_weight=247818.000000Then I'm assuming that's code to fit in with the FS9 fuel and payload system and I can't advise.Shouldn't think either would help the crash to destop though.......

The crash to desktop wasn't because of the fuel thing, it didn't crash to the desktop until I started my decent to Milan.Although I did tried the FFX DC-9 in FS2004, and every time I adjusted the fuel and clicked "ok" FS would crash.
