Hey Guys!I usually keep a close eye on these Forums yet i very rarely post, must be shy i guess Batting%20Eyelashes.gifAny ways Im on vacation over here in the United States from New Zealand and i must say that PC components are far cheaper than they are back home so i've gone a little nuts and pretty much spoiled my self to a brand new Rig that i've wanted to construct for sometime. My Specs are in my signature and yes my CPU says 4.6Ghz (im yet to overclock it) but its only at stock as of now. i'll list the followingCPU:i7 2600KMobo: MSI P67A-G45 (B3) Ram: 8GB Corsair 1600PSU: Coolermaster 750wattCorsair: H60 cpu water coolerEVGA GTX 570 super clockedI feel pretty confident that these components will slap FSX around like a kid in a playground but im considering if i really need to upgrade to an SSD....back home i run fsx off a seperate HDD and it seems to load fairly quickly for my liking. A free flight with Orbx scenery and lets say the PMDG JS4100 would prob take around 1min to load give or take. I know the SSD wont give me any performance advantage but those of you that have FSX installed on one, can you justify lashing out and purchasing one? im more just hoping that the upgrade will stop distant textures popping into resolution or will the Rig ive just purchased take care of this?i would appreciate your knowledge and thoughts please guys happy.gifRegards

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum.SSD's are all about loading. If you will use Orbx scenery frequently, then it's worth it. Otherwise a fast/reliable hdd will do the job nicely. There is however a 3rd option: switch your MB P67 to Z68 which will allow you to use a small SSD as a cache for your HDD: works well, not as costly because you only need a 20-60gb SSDAs for the actual performance of SSD in FSX, I have an OCZ 240gb SSD and once FSX is loaded up, I don't think I see a difference when flying between SSD vs HDD.Pierre
