July 27, 201114 yr Hi Everyone After generating my weather using ASE build 642 i appear to be lacking in contrails after I have reached my cruising altitude, which is normally between 25k and 30k, the aircraft I generally fly is a 737 or some similar type jet, the temperature according to my gauges is roundabout -30/-35. What are the deciding factors that generally make contrails appear? Thanks Shaun
July 27, 201114 yr Hi,It is determined by OAT and FSX handles all of that. It is possible that FSX is reading your ground temps and not the temps at altitude. What Depiction Mode are you using in ASE?
July 27, 201114 yr In your aircraft's "Aircraft.cfg" file, you can change the temperature that the contrails will appear by adding this line:[GeneralEngineData]max_contrail_temperature = -25You can change the temperature indicated. In the example above, the contrails will appear at the -25 level. For example, I use -15 for jets, -25 for turbo-props, and -35 for props. You can put this in your AI files too. Make sure you have a contrail effect under the [EFFECTS] subsection, like:[EFFECTS]contrail=fx_contrail_lIt's not entirely accurate, but it seems good enough within FSX limits Devin CYOW
July 27, 201114 yr Hi Sorry if i failed to mention, i'm using FS9, not FSX. Cheers ShaunDoesn't matter. Works both in FS9 and FSX!! :) Devin CYOW
