GPWS SOUNDS FOR FS2004???

Featured Replies

Hey all, i remember back in the days of fs98 (i know it was a long time ago!), there was a freeware package called gpws98, which was installed as an adventure in fs98, which once started up in the sim, would provide very realistc callouts that are heard in most aircraft (Boeing). Examples of featured sounds were "Sink rate" warnings, "Wind shear", "2500", "1000" ,"500" ,"Approaching minimums", "Minimums", "400", "300", "200", "100", "50", "40" ,"30", "20", "10". Those were the one's i can recall. They made such a huge difference to the flying experience in the sim, as they were so realistic, in fact i think they were recorded from an actual motion simulator. Does anyone remember this package and know of any other package like this, which is compatible for fs2004?Thanks for your feedback and happy holidays! :)

Well, this isn't freeware, but Flight Deck Companion is the latest and greatest version of Dave March's old S-Combo software. It does announcements, checklists, GPWS, etc all rolled into one program. It's not an adventure-it runs in the background. Highly recommended.http://www.oncourse-software.co.uk/You can also buy from PC Aviator http://www.pcaviator.com/Regards,MarcMarc Gibson

I used to have loads of callouts in fs2002, which I obtained from various panels--"air speed alive--80 knots-V1-V2- Rotate- positive climb, gear up"etc. Plus all the GPWS. Due to various calamitys and converting to WXP, I lost the lot. They must be out there somewhere, but I'm blowed if I can find them. Anyone know where they are?Russell.

Project Magenta has a free one.

Thanks for the replies guys. I checked out the freeware one at Project Magenta and it is exactly what i am looking for and more! One problem, i haven't a clue how it works, it's installed onto the system, but i dont think it's connected with FS2004 in any way. It's just an icon on the desktop. How will i hear the sounds that i want in the sim?Any help is much appreciated!

Guys, i'm also having problems with the FSUIPC.dll, i installed it, but i think its payware :(

It probably connects to the sim via fsuipc.

FSUIPC is both payware and freeware. It funtions on a basic level for free as long as the program trying to use it is registered with the author. It also has extended funtionality for a fee.

So does that mean that these sounds from Project Magenta, can only be used with a registered version of FSUIPC, i.e. the payware version rather than the freeware?Does anyone know for sure, has anyone got the sounds i'm rambling on about here? That would be a shame if it only works with the payware version:(Thanks again for any help!

I'm with you Capt. I have the registered ver. of fsuipc, But don't know how to get PMsounds to work in the sim. By the way Capt., Hope you're getting plenty of mileage out of "AGRA".Russell.

Guys,I dont know for sure, but my guess is that the payware version of FSUIPC is needed since it is for the other PM products.Either drop Enrico or Pete an email to find out for sure. I have the payware version so I'm not sure. I do know this though. You should only have to unzip PMSounds to a directory anywhere (mine is on the desktop) and start the executable. Then start MSFS. The sound should automatically play. Nice thing about PMSounds is that you do not need to have a panel loaded to here the sounds like you do with most other gauge type GPWS's. If in fact you do all this and it does not work, then it probably needs the pay version of FSUIPC.Mike

Well if it is freeware than the authors can get registered with FSUIPC for free (as I understand things). So as long as their product is registered as a legit product then the freeware version of fsuipc will work for you. If it doesn't I suggest you contact both PM and then the author of FSUIPC.

Have you sussed it yet Capt.? Now, I have the registered ver. of fsuipc, so don't know if it works with the unregistered. Anyway, click on the PMsounds icon on your desktop, left click on each sound you want in the right column, which will bring it up in the left column ( are you still with me,haha.) then MINIMIZE it, and start the flight sim. The sounds should then be there. A bit more helpfull readme would have been handy, but what the heck, it's free, and we get there in the end. Thanks Project Magenta, the sounds are really good.Russell.

It definitely requires the registered 3.xxx or the old freeware 2.975 (but I guess there's no way to make the old version compatible with FS004...)btw, I use a GPWS gauge which was included with the Precision Panels 737NG project. Simply added the gauge to all panel.cfg files (except the Wright Flyer ;-) ) Don't know if this gauge is freeware though, but have a look at the file library.Holger.

Hey guys, many thanks for all your help and replies, good to know i can get some advice when needed!Basically i started PM Sounds on the desktop and selected the sounds as instructed, but when loading the sim an error sign appeared referring to a module that was incompatible or something similar. It gave me the option if i wanted to continue, when selecting yes, the sim tired to load, but then went on to the desktop, with flight sim still being open on the taskbar, but not accessible. I had to close the program by pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE. So i guess the sounds require the registered version of FSUIPC, as the PM Sounds do not need to be put into the FS9 directory, they are meant to just run independantly from the sim.:(Really wanted them sounds, but i guess if i aint willing to pay the
