Hello All, I've had FSX for a while, and I think I know nearly everything there is to know about the basic flying and simple software modifications. However, I've read about a so-called SDK that seems to be able to enable editing of airports and traffic (now don't laugh, because I have absolutely NO idea what this thing is!) rolleyes.gif Can someone explain to me what on earth the SDK really is? As in, where it's located, what it does, and so forth. Thanks! Matt P.S. I have FSX Gold edition, with both Deluxe and Acceleration installed.

Software Development Kit Contains different utilities/programs for FSX. It is not installed with FS, but it is on DVD #1 and then there are two updates from Microsoft.

Installing the SDK can be tricky at times, read this guide http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=SDK_Installation_(FSX) and follow it step by step. There is another link at the bottom of the wiki for troubleshooting. You'll need the SDK installed to use most of the airport design/editing tools, including Airport Design Editor. A nifty tool for monitoring AI traffic is included in the SDK called the Traffic Toolbox Explorer.

You'll have to copy that link for FsDeveloper into your browser address bar - new forum software doesn't have option for inserting hyperlinks, nor even simple editing of posts??

Thanks Jim, linking directly to that page has always been a bugger for me - I'll try again: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=SDK_Installation_%28FSX%29Still can't edit posts - kicks up an "object error" using Maxthon browser, but I'm sure that resolved in due course....I do like the new forum!

That link worked fine, so you can copy and paste a link with that browser.

Thanks guys for the info, very well explained! I'm using a laptop, so my disc drive is slow (and sounds like a freight train, lol), but I'll give it a go and see if it works. And fyi, I could click on the links you posted, it was "active" and opened a new window. Regards, Matt
