The NGX: My personal review

Featured Replies

Dear PMDG, first off, let me send my best congratulations for accomplishing this project at last, the quality is tremendous and I'm still wiping off the drool since this morning but... I feel that the NGX should have stayed at least one more month in beta testing, because I'm getting a bunch of extremely odd issues - none system related, hats off to you guys for the solid flight data - but more operation related. So far, here are my dislikes and likes: - The FPS and smoothness of the NGX feel like they came out of the Bering strait - sometimes I'm getting 30 fps, others 40, and others 17. It's very choppy, and I do not know why.- The plane likes to crash - whether while i'm playing around with the systems (stuff freezes and the 2D panel looks like a horror movie (all corrupted) or shutting down the sim getting an issue that the bloody airbus x had, when the FS menu window goes into the right lower part of the screen and says "NO TITLE", try to close it and boom fatal error. - My 747-400, which is the heaviest of all my addons, behind the MD-11 and finally the 737, actually runs the smoothest - fastest and never ever crashed on me - and neither did the MD-11 - BUT, I'll spare you this one because I know that this is the first release and that there will be service packs coming along fixing all of this mumbo jumbo - You cannot release something bug free on the first try - no matter how hard you try, but I gotta say that you did a damn fine job. The systems.. are so weird.. I thought I'd see some high tech beast but I get better - A hybrid. Sweet mix between analogs and BSOD screens LOL.gif I've spent time toying around, alighting the IRS was a bit ankward since I was used to see 7 MIN IRS L C R, etc. I'm not totally understanding how to direct the power between my APU / GPU and GENs... was so straight forward on the queen though. Managed to make a flight after a hideously long prefight - The NG does not autotune the ILS frequency does it? (I saw NAV radio so the ?? went up in my mind)You can only place the waypoint above/below the discrepancy to delete it? Seems it's no longer like the queenEntering the selected temperature before take off - I keep getting invalid entry - but I'm sure I'm missing something somewhere. Anyways, congratulations once again to PMDG! Your work, dedication and quality just blows my mind away, keep going further!

All you do is move the switches for what you want. If you want GPU power, move the GPU switch to on. If you want APU power, assuming your APU is up and running, just move the APU GEN switches to on. Not much to it. smile.png

No, it does not.

It's more like I kept forgetting what is on ans what is off - Taxi on the taxiway, turn off the apu - pew, whoops forgot the generators >_<- Complete preflight - switch to APU - pew apu wasn't actually selected >_< And more silly mistakes that time and practice resolve.
