Brakes don't work...at all

Featured Replies

Before I get the flood of "read the introduction" posts, this has nothing to do with the autobrake or the trick to disengage it with double tapping the brakes. I cannot brake the aircraft.Pressing the toe brakes on my Saitek pedals will show the red brakes message in the lower left, but it doesn't actually slow the plane.I even got the plane up to about 5 knots groundspeed on a taxiway and then engaged the parking brake...nothing. The plane didn't even slow. I have recalibrated my Saitek pedals using the Saitek software.I also deleted the FSUIPC.ini file in case there was a conflict with an earlier FSUIPC calibration.I also reassigned braking function to my pedals in the FSX controls settings. I tested all that with the default King Air turboprop. Brakes work fine and normally.I switched over to the NGX, and again I couldn't brake the plane. At a dead standstill with the parking brake on, I applied a little throttle to see if the plane would stay still, and it didn't. Even applying 5% N1 to thrust the plane started creeping forward with the parking brake on. I don't know what to do anymore.

You burned your brakes probably for some reason. Reset the failure from the CDU FAILURES handling page and just in case reset brake failure from the FSX failures page.

Wow...you were right. There was 1 active failure in the CDU, and it was my brakes. But this was the first time I even tried the plane. Is it normal to get a brake failure before you even use the brakes?

Boeing can deliver airplanes that are nasty :) you should have your eyes wide open while receiving your airplane :)

Guys, i had this same problem but clearing the failures did not work. What should be done in that case?

On my very first outing with the NGX last week, I was unable to stop when I was lining up with the runway. I tried all kinds of things, setting the parking brake, reverse thrust, to little or no effect. I ended up slewing the plane back to start of the runway, and it occurred to me that it could possibly related to failures, as I've seen strange phantom issues happen on other addons that were due to accidental failures settings. Sure enough, it was an active failure with brakes, so I cleared the failure and proceeded with the takeoff, but I'm stumped as to why the failure occurred. By default, aren't failures disabled? I didn't even visit the failures settings in the FMC on that first flight, so I don't know how the failure was activated.I had the same brake failure happen today on takeoff, but at least now I knew where to look to correct. Is this a bug related to the chocks/parking brake situation at the gate?
