Plane model preview problem

Featured Replies

Taken from Bojote's FSX tweak thread..

First of all, thanks a lot for your hard work *******!But I have one problem:The different parts of the airplanes are misplaced. For example:Is there a solution to this? Thanks in advance!
I'm assuming you're running Windows 7 here, and you need to go here:- C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX and delete the Shaders folder completely. FSX will rebuild this the next time you start the sim. This has happened because you changed the WaterConstants.Xml file: any time you do this the Shaders cache repository needs to be rebuilt. Bojote's latest Shaders v3.0 includes a .vbs file which will do this automatically for you.I think there's a link to the Shader app. as part of his Avsim sig..
Thanks for the advice Paul! But the 'shaders'-folder didn't exist tho, so I installed the Shader3-mod:No changes.I took a look through the FSX.cfg and deleted the new [bufferpools]-section:Works!But as noone else seems to be having such problems, I suppose these problems appear because I'm using theun-recommended ATI Radeon X1300/1550.I'll just stay with the FSX.cfg now (seemingly the [bufferpools]-section doesn't affect ATI-cards too much anyway happy.gif)
I'm having the same problem, except the plane is all black.. I attempted to delete the shaders cache but there was no such folder as noted earlier.. Attempted a repair of the shaders files by re-installing shaders.. no go.. Attempted the fix of deleting the bufferpools line in the cfg, but my bufferpools line had been deleted already.. Anyone got any ideas? -Damien

There absolutely IS a Shaders folder, Damien! Just open up Windows Explorer, select Tools->Folder Options->View, and check Show hidden files, folders and drives.WrongGuard's problem was that the ATI 1300 doesn't support Shaders v3.0 - It had nothing to do with BufferPools. Black aircraft... Is your DX10 Preview checked?

One thing I did want to add is that I did flush the shaders cache using the included flush file in bojotes shades install folder on the start menu with no change.

I had the same problem before. It happened after I added the "Bufferpools" entry into FSX.cfg. There is a note that warns that the bufferpools entry can cause graphical corruption on some systems, and once I removed it the problem went away. I didn't have to do anything to the shaders folder at all, and every time I make a change the FSX.cfg I increment the "SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=" line; this rebuilds the shader cache next time FSX is restarted. Both the "Bufferpools" and "SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=" are manually entered in FSX.cfg.

Ok, I've followed your steps, showed all folders, deleted the shaders folder, but unfortunately, it has not fixed the problem. During the day the aircraft in the preview window is a very light blue with no textures, with the model looking like a bunch of separated parts..in the evening the aircraft is black, with the model being in the same condition. I'm attempting a system restore to see if that helps.I should probably add my computer specs.. Asus g73 laptop with an intel i7 chip. 6gb ram and an ati mobility hd 5870 graphics card. Running win7 pro home.

Hmmmph.. I'm stumped! Light blue textures happen when running incompatible software in DX10 mode, but the Ultralight is compatible, so that's a puzzle; then - a black model is an indicator of no textures..., and that couldn't be, either; aircraft pieces mixed up is an indicator of the Shaders not being in sync... Someone else with more model experience needs to jump in here, my friend, as I'm fresh out of suggestions.

I appreciate the assistance. I've fixed the problem with a system restore. It may have been the update to 11.7 graphics drivers or settings changes.. (but those had worked for a few flights before it went screwy), or it may have been bumping up the blurries setting in FSX Booster.. (Which also worked for a few flights..) I'm willing to experiment again to help other users. -Damien
