737NGX and FSFK

Featured Replies

Is it okay if I install the ACARS device that comes with FS Flight Keeper in the 737NGX or would the addition cause a conflict of some sort. I realize the natural answer would be it is fine; however, given the complexity of this wonderful craft I thought to err on the side of caution and ask. Thanks,Ed

I dunno bout the acars part, but it sure don't like the strobes in the NGX, gave me a -1350% rating because it said I had the strobes off the whole way, even though they were on........... Most of the way Whistle.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the click spot for the 2D cockpit view? Did you happen to check and see if the menu option in FSX still worked? I don't use the 2D cockpit and haven't been able to get the click spot to ever work in a 3D cockpit.

I like to put the click spot on the upper left screw on the 2d FMS pop up. It didn't seem to take, but there is a good chance that it is because I put it on the wrong plane. Things work a bit different with this plane, I think because of all the on the fly changes in equipment you can do.

Yeah, that would make sense. I always added the spot as an actual panel in an open spot of the 2D, but as I mentioned I don't really fly from there it was just to get the menu option from the menu bar. I'll tinker with it and let you know what I find out, Scott. Thanks,Ed

Okay I have this figured out, tested, and it works. The tip off was something Robert Randazzo said in the latest update post. He mentioned the files are read only. Since the 737-800WL uses the 737-800 panel.cfg file I went to that file, removed the read only property, started FSFK, and installed the FSFK ACARS device without a problem. Be sure to check where you install it though. I selected an open area of the center pillar, not sure of the technical name, and when I checked in the 2D cockpit view it was actually placed on the FO windshield. I don't really care since I never use the 2D cockpit but be mindful of that when placing yours. Ed
